A. Safety Precautions
(1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring and to stop the electrical supply to the Electronic Engine Control (EEC)

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Ground Maintenance

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Get Access
(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

(2) Remove the track lock cover (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-38-000-801).

4. Procedure

CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

A. Removal of the TRAS Track Lock Proximity Sensors

NOTE: These procedures are for the left hand (LH) TRAS track lock proximity sensors on one engine. The right hand (RH) side on the same engine is opposite.

(1) Disconnection of the connectors

CAUTION: USE TEFLON-JAWED PLIERS TO LOOSEN/TIGHTEN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE METAL-JAWED PLIERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN OCCUR.

(a) Disconnect the 4038KS-A (4039KS-A) connector on the TRAS monitoring harness from the track lock proximity sensor (4).
(b) Disconnect the 4046KS-A (4047KS-A) connector on the TRAS monitoring harness from the track lock proximity sensor (4).
(c) Install COVER - PROTECTION on the TRAS motoring harness connectors and the track lock connectors.
(d) Remove the three screws (5) that attach the proximity sensor plate (3) and the proximity sensors (4) to the track lock.
(e) Remove the proximity sensor plate (3) and the proximity sensors (4) from the track lock.
(f) Remove the proximity sensors (4) from the proximity sensor plate (3).
1 Bend the anti-rotation tab washers (2) so that they do not prevent the movement of the lock nuts (1).
2 Remove the lock nut (1), anti-rotation tab washers (2) and the proximity sensors (4) from the proximity sensor plate (3) with the A708405 PROX SENSOR R/I TOOL .
3 Discard the anti-rotation tab washers (2).
(g) Installation of the protection covers

CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

1 Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
