BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-36-42-010-074-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.

B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
4. ProcedureWARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). Subtask 78-36-42-420-053-A
A. Installation of the Hold Open Rod (HOR)
(a) Put the HOR (1) in position on the pivot bracket (9).
(b) Install the bush (8) and screw (7) on the pivot bracket (9) and the HOR (1).
(c) Install the washer (6) and nut (5) on the screw (7).
(d) TORQUE the nut (5) to between 0.45 and 0.34 m.daN (39.82 and 30.09 lbf.in )

(e) Installation of the cotter pin (4):
(a) Turn the HOR towards the inside of the engine to align it with the storage bracket (3) on the forward frame.
(b) Push the HOR end ring (2) to connect it to the storage bracket (3).
5. Close-upNOTE: This procedure is given for the HOR on the left thrust reverser. It is also applicable to the HOR on the right thrust reverser.
(1) Connect the HOR (1) to the pivot bracket (9) on the forward frame: (a) Put the HOR (1) in position on the pivot bracket (9).
(b) Install the bush (8) and screw (7) on the pivot bracket (9) and the HOR (1).
(c) Install the washer (6) and nut (5) on the screw (7).
(d) TORQUE the nut (5) to between 0.45 and 0.34 m.daN (39.82 and 30.09 lbf.in )
. (e) Installation of the cotter pin (4):
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
1 Install the new AIPC 78-30-24-10-400 COTTER PIN (4).NOTE: If necessary, turn the nut (5) to the next available hole to install the cotter pin (4).
(2) Connect the HOR (1) to the storage bracket (3) on the forward frame. (a) Turn the HOR towards the inside of the engine to align it with the storage bracket (3) on the forward frame.
(b) Push the HOR end ring (2) to connect it to the storage bracket (3).

A. Do the reactivation of the thrust reverser system after ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-807).
Subtask 78-36-42-410-069-A B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
