| 2.Inspect the outer flange for: | | |
| A.Damage | | If damage is less than the check tool length, refer to 4.D., Outer Flange Check. If damage is more than the check tool length, remove the Adaptor Ring Assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-42-000-001) and after in shop refer to ESM 710001. |
C. "J" Ring" Check
(1) Damage less than the check tool length.
1 Place the "J" Ring Check Tool HIX3010-0 CHECK TOOL - J-RING onto the "V" Blade of the "J" Ring.
2 Check the gap between the tool and the forward face of the "V" blade using 0.010 in. (0.250 mm) thickness gauge. If it is greater than 0.010 in. (0.250 mm) replace the "J" RingCMM 783236 .
3 Check the gap between the tool and the rear face of the "V" blade using 0.005 in. (0.125 mm) thickness gauge. If it is greater than 0.005 in. (0.125 mm) replace the "J" RingCMM 783236 .
Subtask 78-36-42-220-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Damage less than the check tool length.
NOTE: Only the damages under check tool length can be checked with check tool. A "V" outer flange clear area is necessary at each extremity of the check tool.
(a) Check the "V" Blade.
(0.250 mm) replace the "J" Ring
3 Check the gap between the tool and the rear face of the "V" blade using 0.005 in. (0.125 mm) thickness gauge. If it is greater than 0.005 in. (0.125 mm) replace the "J" Ring
D. Outer Flange Check
(1) Damage less than the check tool length.
1 Check the gap between the tool and the forward face of the "V" groove using 0.010 in. (0.250 mm) thickness gauge. If it is greater than 0.010 in. (0.250 mm), replace the adapter ring outer flange (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-42-000-001).
5. Close-up(1) Damage less than the check tool length.
NOTE: Only the damages under check tool length can be checked with check tool. A "V" groove clear area is necessary at each extremity of the check tool.
(a) Place the Outer Flange Check Tool HIX3011-0 CHECK TOOL-OUTER FLANGE into the "V" groove of the outer flange.
NOTE: If more than three outer flanges are affected by half thrust reverser, replace the five outer flanges (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-42-000-001).
2 Check the gap between the tool and the rear face of the "V" groove using 0.005 in. (0.125 mm) thickness gauge. If it is greater than 0.005 in. (0.125 mm) replace the adapter ring outer flange (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-42-000-001), or repair the adapter ring outer flange ESM 710001. NOTE: If more than three outer flanges are affected by half thrust reverser, replace the five outer flanges (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-42-000-001).
