WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure

CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

A. Removal of the Closure Assist Assembly
(1) Remove the closure assist assembly (1):

Closure Assist Assembly ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

CAUTION: DISENGAGE THE CLOSURE ASSIST FITTING FROM THE CLOSURE ASSIST ASSEMBLY BEFORE YOU DISENGAGE THE CLIP ASSEMBLY ON THE STOW BRACKET. IF YOU DISENGAGE THE CLIP ASSEMBLY ON THE STOW BRACKET FIRST, DAMAGE TO THE CLOSURE ASSIST ASSEMBLY CAN OCCUR.

(a) Disengage the spring clip on the closure assist fitting (7) from the closure assist assembly (1).
(b) Open the clip assembly on the stow bracket and move the closure assist assembly (1) out of the stow bracket.
(c) Remove the nut (5), the two washers (3), the bushing (4), the bushing (6) and the bolt (2) that attach the closure assist assembly (1) to the closure assist fitting (7).
(d) Remove the closure assist assembly (1) from the thrust reverser.
(2) Remove the closure assist fitting (7):
(a) Remove latches 1A and 1B (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-35-000-801).
(b) Remove the two nuts (9), the two washers (8) and the two pins (10) that attach the closure assist fitting (7) to the latch beam.
(c) Remove the closure assist fitting (7) from the latch beam.

(3) Remove the closure assist hook fitting (13):
(a) Remove the two nuts (11), the two washers (12) and the two pins (14) that attach the closure assist hook fitting (13) to the latch beam.
(b) Remove the closure assist hook fitting (13) from the latch beam.

(4) Remove the closure assist hook fitting (15):
(a) Remove the two nuts (11), the two washers (12) and the two pins (14) that attach the closure assist hook fitting (15) to the latch beam.
(b) Remove the closure assist hook fitting (15) from the latch beam.
