3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-32-44-941-060-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

D. Get Access
   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

   (2) Remove one or both half thrust reversers (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-803).
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-44-020-058-A
A. Removal of the Hinge Beam Rod R1
NOTE: Go to step 4.A.(1), if one half thrust reverser is removed.
NOTE: Go to step 4.A.(3), if two half thrust reversers are removed.
   (1) Remove the hinge access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-45-000-801).
   (2) Removal of the hinge beam rod R1 (8) from the half thrust reverser
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (1).
     (b) Remove and keep the nut (2) and the washer (3).
     (c) Install 98N7830H014-000 THRUST REVERSER HINGE BOLT BULLETS on the screw (4).
     (d) Remove the screw (4).
NOTE: Use DRIFT - COPPER, SOFT to remove the screw (4).
   (3) Removal of the bonding strap (7) from the hinge rod R1 (8)
NOTE: This procedure is given for one position and it is same for the second position.
     (a) Remove and keep the bolt (5) and the washer (6).
     (b) Remove the bonding strap (7).
   (4) Go to the opposite side of the half thrust reverser, if installed.
   (5) Remove the second bonding strap (7) from the hinge rod R1 (8).
   (6) Remove the hinge beam rod R1 (8) from the pylon.
