A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

D. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
   (2) Remove the thrust reverser hinge access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-45-000-801).
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-00-220-060-A
A. Detailed Inspection of the Thrust Reverser, Hinge Fittings and Surrounding Structure (150 mm around Hinge Fittings)
NOTE: This procedure is given for the left thrust reverser 12 o'clock beam and hinges. It is also applicable to the right thrust reverser 12 o'clock beam and hinges.
NOTE: You can use the MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and the LIGHT SOURCE - HIGHPOWER.
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection satisfactorily as per the specified inspection standards.
   (2) Clean the parts with the LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) made moist with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) , if necessary.
   (3) Do the detailed inspection in the hinge fitting No 1 area and surrounding structure.
     (a) Do the detailed inspection of the parts that follow:
  • Beam 12 o'clock (1)
  • R1 floating rod (2)
  • Hinge pin (3)
  • Bearing R1 (4)
  • Bushings (5)
  • Washer (6)
  • Nut (7)
  • Vee blade 12 o'clock (8)
  • Fitting shim 12 o'clock (9)
  • Fire wall (10)
  • Fire shield (11).
     (b) Examine the condition of the parts which you can see.
     (c) Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion damage:
       1 If you find corrosion damage, contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
     (d) Make sure that there are no signs of the other damage (cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and gouges) on the beam 12 o'clock (1):
       1 If you find damage (nicks, scratches and gouges), refer to NSRM 543054.
       2 If you find damage (cracks and dents), contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
     (e) Make sure that there are no signs of other damage (wear, cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and gouges) on the vee blade 12 o'clock (8):
       1 If you find damage (wear), refer to NSRM 543056.
       2 If you find damage (cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and gouges), contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
     (f) Make sure that there are no signs of other damage on the remaining parts (cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and gouges):
       1 If you find damage (cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and gouges), contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
   (4) Do the detailed inspection in the hinge fitting No 2 area and surrounding structure.
     (a) Do the detailed inspection of the parts that follow:
  • Beam 12 o'clock (1)
  • R2 floating rod (12)
  • Hinge pin (13)
  • Bearing R2 (14)
  • Bushings (15)
  • Washer (16)
  • Nut (17).
     (b) Examine the condition of the parts which you can see.
     (c) Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion damage:
       1 If you find corrosion damage, contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
     (d) Make sure that there are no signs of other damage (cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and gouges) on the beam 12 o'clock (1):
       1 If you find damage (nicks, scratches or gouges), refer to NSRM 543054.
       2 If you find damage (cracks and dents), contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
     (e) Make sure that there are no signs of other damage on the remaining parts (cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and gouges):
       1 If you find damage (cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and gouges), contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
   (5) Do the detailed inspection in the hinge fitting No 3 area and surrounding structure.
     (a) Do the detailed inspection of the parts that follow:
  • Beam 12 o'clock (1)
  • Reverser hinge fitting at Rib 3 (18)
  • Hinge pin (19)
  • Bearing R3 (20)
  • Bushings (21)
  • Washer (22)
  • Nut (23).
     (b) Examine the condition of the parts which you can see.
     (c) Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion damage:
       1 If you find corrosion damage, contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
     (d) Make sure that there are no signs of other damage (cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and gouges) on the beam 12 o'clock (1):
       1 If you find damage (nicks, scratches or gouges), refer to NSRM 543054.
       2 If you find damage (cracks and dents), contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
     (e) Make sure that there are no signs of other damage on the remaining parts (cracks, nicks, dents, scratch and gouges):
       1 If you find damage (cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and gouges), contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
   (6) Do the detailed inspection in the hinge fitting No 4 area and surrounding structure.
     (a) Do the detailed inspection of the parts that follow:
  • Beam 12 o'clock (1)
  • Reverser hinge fitting at Rib 4 (24)
  • Hinge pin (25)
  • Bearing R4 (26)
  • Bushings (27)
  • Washer (28)
  • Nut (29).
     (b) Examine the condition of the parts which you can see.
     (c) Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion damage:
       1 If you find corrosion damage, contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
     (d) Make sure that there are no signs of other damage (cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and gouges) on the beam 12 o'clock (1):
       1 If you find damage (nicks, scratches or gouges), refer to NSRM 543054.
       2 If you find damage (cracks and dents), contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
     (e) Make sure that there are no signs of other damage on the remaining parts (cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and gouges):
       1 If you find damage (cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and gouges), contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
