(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

Subtask 75-22-00-010-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

Subtask 75-22-00-210-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Examine the No. 4 bearing compartment Air Cooled Air Cooler (ACAC)
(1) Visually examine the housing body outer surface side plate, fan air duct and end tank of the ACAC.
(a) If there are scratches:
1 Minor scratches where no distortion is apparent, accept it.
(b) If there are nicks:
1 Up to 0.01 in. (0.2540 mm) in depth, accept it.
2 If there are nicks with a sharp edge or more than 0.01 in. (0.2540 mm) in depth, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(c) If there are dents:
1 Minor dents local to the fan air flange and that are away from the tubes, accept it.
2 Up to 0.01 in. (0.2540 mm) in depth, accept it.
3 More than 0.01 in. (0.2540 mm) in depth, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
4 Dents in the main body of the side plate or end tank local to the tubes, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(d) If there are cracks:
1 A maximum of 2 cracks on location A up to 1.00 in. (25.4000 mm) in length, accept them.
2 Any cracks in the other outer surfaces up to 0.50 in. (12.7000 mm) in length, accept them.
3 Both 1_ and 2_ found on the same unit, accept them.
4 More than 1_ or 2_, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(2) Visually examine the cooling fan air ducts.
(a) If there are minor scratches where no distortion is apparent, accept it.
(b) Minor dents local to the fan air flange that are away from the tubes, accept it.
(c) If there are dents or nicks that cause a break in the ACAC cooling fan air ducts, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(d) If there are breaks, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(3) Visually examine the cooling fan air flanges of the ACAC.
(a) If there is damage which causes the ACAC to function unsatisfactorily, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(b) If there are cracks:
1 Single cracks not more than 1.00 in. (25.4 mm) in length with a total crack length of 1.50 in. (38.1 mm) per flange, where the cracks run either from hole to hole or from hole to outer edge, accept the ACAC for the next 1500 flight hours or 2000 flight cycles before next inspection, whichever is sooner.
2 If there are cracks which run into or along the crease of the band or the total crack length is more than the limits, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(4) Visually examine the air tubes of the ACAC.
(a) If the tubes are buckled or bent out of line, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(5) If there are dents in the air tubes of the ACAC:
(a) If you find dents more than 0.02 in. (0.5080 mm) in length, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(b) If you find dents with a sharp edge or crease, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(c) If you find dents less than 0.25 in. (6.3500 mm) from the nearest baffle plate, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(d) If you find dents not more than the limits as given above, accept the ACAC.
(6) Visually examine the baffle plates of the ACAC.
(a) If you find cracks:
1 Single cracks not more than 0.75 in. (19.5 mm) in length with a total crack length of 2.00 in. (50.8 mm) per baffle if the crack runs from edge to edge and the crack is minimum 0.2 in. (5 mm) away from the tubes, accept the ACAC for the next 1500 flight hours or 2000 flight cycles whichever is sooner.
2 Not more than 50 percent ligament cracks of the baffle plates on either the fan air inlet or outlet HP12 tube row edge, accept the ACAC for the next 1500 flight hours or 2000 flight cycles before next inspection, whichever is sooner.
Subtask 75-22-00-020-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Visually examine the housing body outer surface side plate, fan air duct and end tank of the ACAC.

(d) If there are cracks:

(c) If there are dents or nicks that cause a break in the ACAC cooling fan air ducts, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(d) If there are breaks, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(3) Visually examine the cooling fan air flanges of the ACAC.
(a) If there is damage which causes the ACAC to function unsatisfactorily, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(b) If there are cracks:

(b) If you find dents with a sharp edge or crease, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(c) If you find dents less than 0.25 in. (6.3500 mm) from the nearest baffle plate, replace the ACAC (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-41-400-010).
(d) If you find dents not more than the limits as given above, accept the ACAC.
(6) Visually examine the baffle plates of the ACAC.
(a) If you find cracks:
1 Single cracks not more than 0.75 in. (19.5 mm) in length with a total crack length of 2.00 in. (50.8 mm) per baffle if the crack runs from edge to edge and the crack is minimum 0.2 in. (5 mm) away from the tubes, accept the ACAC for the next 1500 flight hours or 2000 flight cycles whichever is sooner.
2 Not more than 50 percent ligament cracks of the baffle plates on either the fan air inlet or outlet HP12 tube row edge, accept the ACAC for the next 1500 flight hours or 2000 flight cycles before next inspection, whichever is sooner.
B. Removal of the ACAC Assembly
(1) Remove the nuts (3), (4) and (7).
(2) Hold the weight of the air cooler.
(3) Remove the bolts (1), (6) and (9) and the spacers (2), (5) and (8).
Subtask 75-22-00-020-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the nuts (3), (4) and (7).
(2) Hold the weight of the air cooler.
(3) Remove the bolts (1), (6) and (9) and the spacers (2), (5) and (8).
C. Removal of the Air Inlet Duct
(1) Remove the nuts (10) and the bolts (11) from the ACAC assembly.
(2) Remove the air inlet duct.
(3) Examine the air tubes for damage, blockage and possible debris clogging the airflow.
Subtask 75-22-00-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the nuts (10) and the bolts (11) from the ACAC assembly.
(2) Remove the air inlet duct.
(3) Examine the air tubes for damage, blockage and possible debris clogging the airflow.
D. Installation of the Air Inlet Duct
(1) Put the air inlet duct in position on the air cooler and install the bolts (11) and the nuts (10).
(2) TORQUE the nuts (10) to between 105 and 85 lbf.in (1.19 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
Subtask 75-22-00-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put the air inlet duct in position on the air cooler and install the bolts (11) and the nuts (10).
(2) TORQUE the nuts (10) to between 105 and 85 lbf.in (1.19 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).E. Installation of the ACAC Assembly
(1) Put the air cooler in position on the three brackets on the engine case.
(2) Install the spacers (2), (5) and (8), the bolts (1), (6) and (9) and the nuts (3), (4) and (7).
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(4) Measure dimension A. Make sure that dimension A is between 0.08 in. (2 mm) and 0.12 in. (3 mm).
5. Close-up(1) Put the air cooler in position on the three brackets on the engine case.
(2) Install the spacers (2), (5) and (8), the bolts (1), (6) and (9) and the nuts (3), (4) and (7).
NOTE: The inner diameter of the mount lug bore can be different from the spacer outer diameter. If the bore of the mount lug is less than 0.41 in. (10.41 mm) on the air inlet duct, a difference of not more than 0.039 in. (0.99 mm) on the air inlet duct (spacers (2) and (5)) is permitted. If the bore of the mount lug is less than 0.44 in. (11.2 mm) on the air outlet duct, a difference of not more than 0.065 in. (1.65 mm) on the air outlet duct (spacer (8)) is permitted.
(3) TORQUE the nuts (3), (4) and (7) to between 105 and 85 lbf.in (1.19 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).(4) Measure dimension A. Make sure that dimension A is between 0.08 in. (2 mm) and 0.12 in. (3 mm).
