Subtask 74-21-30-350-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
ALIGN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER FERRULE WITH THE COMBUSTION CASE BOSS AND THE IGNITER BUSHING BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE SPARK IGNITER. IF NOT, DAMAGE TO THE SPARK IGNITER CAN OCCUR.
(1) Remove the protective covers from the igniter bushing and engage a plastic drift, 0.375 in. (9.52 mm) maximum diameter, through the igniter bushing, the boss of the combustion case and the combustion chamber ferrule to align them. B. Loosen the ferrule and align it with the igniter bushing and the combustion case boss.
(1) If the ferrule is not easy to move, apply penetrant (Material No.CP2691) .

C. Installation of the spark igniter
PRE CFMI SB 72-0164
(1) If the igniter bushing was removed, install as follows:
(b) Temporarily install the igniter bushing in the combustion case boss and tighten with your hand.
(c) Measure the dimension from the top aft side of the igniter bushing to the inner surface of the combustion chamber outer liner. The dimension must be between 2.534 in. (64.363 mm) and 2.550 in. (64.770 mm).
(d) If the dimension is not between 2.534 in. (64.363 mm) and 2.550 in. (64.770 mm), remove the igniter bushing and add or remove gaskets as required to get this dimension.
(e) TORQUE the igniter bushing to between 600 and 540 lbf.in (6.78 and 6.10 m.daN )
.
(f) Make sure the dimension from the top aft side of the igniter bushing to the inner surface of the combustion chamber outer liner is between 2.534 in. (64.363 mm) and 2.550 in. (64.770 mm).
(g) If the dimension is out of limits, remove the igniter bushing and do steps (b) thru (f) again.
(h) Safety the igniter bushing withCP8001 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia to the adjacent mounting bolt of the fuel nozzle.

(2) If the igniter bushing was removed, install as follows:
(b) Apply graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the threads of the bolts.
(c) Install the igniter bushing on the combustion case with three bolts. Torque the bolts to between 1.36 and 1.24 m.daN (120.35 and 109.73 lbf.in )
.
(d) Measure dimension Z from the combustion chamber outer liner inner surface to the top of the igniter bushing. Measure at the locations just aft of the igniter hole with a depth (hook) gage. Record this value.
(e) Dimension Z must be 2.529 in. (64.236 mm) and 2.545 in. (64.643 mm). If dimension Z is not in limits, adjust the number of igniter plug gaskets (one minimum to eight maximum) to get dimension Z.
(f) If you remove the igniter bushing to adjust the igniter plug gaskets, torque the bolts to between 1.36 and 1.24 m.daN (120.35 and 109.73 lbf.in )
. Make sure dimension Z is still in limits.
(g) Safety wire the bolts together. UseCP8001 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia .

(3) Install the spark igniter.
(a) Apply a small amount of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the spark igniter threads that connect with the igniter bushing in the combustion case boss.
(b) Install the spark igniter into the igniter bushing by hand until it touches the bottom. TORQUE the spark igniter to between 290 and 260 lbf.in (3.28 and 2.94 m.daN )
.
(c) Remove the protective covers from the ignition lead.

1 TORQUE the connector nut to between 290 and 260 lbf.in (3.28 and 2.94 m.daN )
.
(h) Assemble the 2 piece cooling shroud onto the flange of the ignition lead, and secure with the shroud clamp.
1 Install the shroud clamp and TORQUE the shroud clamp to between 40 and 35 lbf.in (0.45 and 0.40 m.daN )
. Make sure there is sufficient clearance between the shroud clamp, the cooling shroud and the fuel manifold and nozzles.
(i) Install the ignition lead in the hinged clamp nearest to the spark igniter. Turn the attachment bolt one-quarter turn to engage the locking feature, and continue to tighten until the ignition lead cannot be moved in the clamp.
