Removal of the Fuel Flow Transmitter

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

   (1) Open the right thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 73-31-21-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Fuel Flow Transmitter
   (1) Find the fuel flow transmitter (1) attached between the fuel tube (FM01) and the fuel tube (FM02) at the 3 o'clock position. See the sheet 1 of the figure.
   (2) Drain the engine fuel system at the fuel manifold as follows: see the sheet 3 of the figure.
WARNING: DO NOT GET FUEL IN YOUR MOUTH, EYES OR ON YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE FUEL. KEEP THE FUEL AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAME AND HEAT. FUEL IS POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE, WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Put the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) under the fuel manifold.
     (b) Loosen the drain plug retention bolt (31) on the fuel manifold.
     (c) Turn the drain plug (32) to disengage the retention tab from under the retention bolt (31) and washer (30).
     (d) Remove the drain plug (32):
CAUTION: DO NOT PRY ON THE RETENTION TAB TO REMOVE THE DRAIN PLUG. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE DRAIN PLUG CAN OCCUR.
       1 Hold the drain plug (32) by the square, turn and pull it as necessary to remove it from the fuel manifold.
     (e) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL).
     (f) Wipe the remaining fuel with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) .
     (g) Remove and discard the EIPC 73-11-02-01-280 PACKING (33) from the drain plug (32).
     (h) Apply P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine to a new
EIPC 73-11-02-01-280 PACKING (33).
     (i) Install the
EIPC 73-11-02-01-280 PACKING (33) on the drain plug (32).
     (j) Install the drain plug (32):
CAUTION: DO NOT PUSH ON THE RETENTION TAB TO INSTALL THE DRAIN PLUG. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE DRAIN PLUG CAN OCCUR.
       1 Hold the drain plug (32) at the square and press and turn the drain plug until it fully seats against the fuel manifold.
     (k) Make sure the drain plug (32) is fully seated against the mating surface.
     (l) Turn the drain plug (32) so the retention tab is under the retention bolt (31) and washer (30).
     (m) TORQUE the drain plug retention bolt (31) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )

   (3) Remove the lower starter duct (
Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-000-802).
   (4) Remove the fuel tube (FM02) (5) from the fuel flow transmitter (1) as follows: see the sheet 1 of the figure.
     (a) Put a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) below the transmitter (1) to absorb any remaining fuel.
     (b) Remove the bolt (7) from the clamp (6).
     (c) Remove the clamp (3) and heat shields (4) from the tube (FM02) (5).
     (d) Disconnect the tube (FM02) (5) coupling nut from the adapter bracket (2).
     (e) Disconnect the tube (FM02) (5) coupling nut from the fuel oil manifold and remove the tube (FM02) (5).
   (5) Disconnect the wiring harness (WC08) connector (P27) from the fuel flow transmitter (1) receptacle (J27) with the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
   (6) Remove the fuel flow transmitter (1) as follows: see the sheet 2 of the figure.
     (a) Disconnect the tube (FM01) coupling nut from the adapter bracket (18).
     (b) Remove the four bolts (20) and remove the fuel flow transmitter (1) and the adapter brackets (2) and (18) from the brackets.
     (c) Remove the eight bolts (19) and remove the adapter brackets (2) and (18) from the fuel flow transmitter (1).
     (d) Remove and discard the two packings (17).
   (7) Installation of the protection covers.
CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
     (a) Make sure that you install the COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
