A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust-reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Open the right thrust reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 73-31-10-020-052-A
A. Removal of the Fuel Flow Transmitter
   (1) Remove the segment shroud 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
   (2) Remove the Variable Bleed Valve (VBV) duct 2 and 3 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-80-000-801).
   (3) Remove the segment shroud 3 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
   (4) Remove the VBV duct 4 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-80-000-801).
   (5) Remove the bolt (5) that attaches the HJ5A electrical harness (7) and the loop clamp (6) to the support bracket (8).
   (6) Disconnect the electrical connector (4) from the fuel flow transmitter (3). If necessary, use PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.
   (7) Remove the fuel flow transmitter (3) as follows:
WARNING: BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET AIRCRAFT FUEL IN YOUR MOUTH OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU GET FUEL ON YOUR SKIN OR ON YOUR CLOTHES, FLUSH IT IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER. IF NECESSARY, GET MEDICAL HELP. AIRCRAFT FUEL IS POISONOUS.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY. THE FUEL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.
     (a) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the fuel flow transmitter (3).
     (b)
PRE SB 72-0221

Loosen the four bolts (16) and (18) that attach the P23 fuel supply tube (9), flowmeter support brackets (19) and (17), and electrical harnesses support bracket (20).
     (c) Remove the four bolts (10) that attach the P23 fuel supply tube (9) to the fuel flow transmitter (3).

POST SB 72-0221

Remove the four bolts (21) that attach the P23 fuel supply tube (9), flowmeter support bracket (23) and fuel valve support bracket (22) to the fuel flow transmitter (3).

     (e) Drain the fuel into a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL).
     (f) Remove and discard the gasket, fuel and oil flange seal (11) from where the P23 fuel supply tube (9) was removed before.

Loosen the two bolts (24) that attach the flowmeter support bracket (26) or (27) to the P22 fuel supply tube (14).
     (h) Remove the four bolts (25) that attach the P22 fuel supply tube (14) to the fuel flow transmitter (3).

POST SB 72-0273

Remove the four bolts (28) that attach the P22 fuel supply tube (14) and flowmeter support bracket (29) or (30) to the fuel flow transmitter (3).

     (j) Remove the fuel flow transmitter (3) and remove and discard the gasket, fuel and oil flange seal (12).

B. Preservation of the Fuel Flow Transmitter
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE FUEL TRANSMITTER IS NOT OPEN TO THE AIR FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS. IF THE FUEL TRANSMITTER IS NOT CORRECTLY PRESERVED AFTER 24 HOURS, INTERNAL CORROSION DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
   (1) In the instance of shipping or prolonged storage, preserve the fuel flow transmitter CMM 733105.
   (2) Install the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and disconnected connectors.
