3. Job Set-up
Subtask 73-21-10-941-052-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
Subtask 73-21-10-020-056-A
A. Removal of the Split Control Unit and Servo Valve Assembly (SCU/SVA)
WARNING: BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET AIRCRAFT FUEL IN YOUR MOUTH OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU GET FUEL ON YOUR SKIN OR ON YOUR CLOTHES, FLUSH IT IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER. IF NECESSARY, GET MEDICAL HELP. AIRCRAFT FUEL IS POISONOUS.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Remove the bolt (23) and loop clamp (24) that attach the HJ5A harness (25) to the support bracket (26).
   (2) Disconnect the electrical connector (35) from the fuel manifold pressure (36) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
   (3) Remove the fuel manifold pressure transducer (36) from the SCU/SVA (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-35-000-801).
   (4) Disconnect the electrical connector (7) and electrical connector (8) from the SCU/SVA (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
   (5) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the SCU/SVA (5) to catch fuel released when the fuel lines are disconnected.
   (6) Remove and discard the safety cable from the secondary supply hose (28).
   (7) Remove and discard the safety cable between the secondary supply hose (28) and the supply hose (32).
   (8) Disconnect the secondary supply hose (28) from the SCU/SVA (5).
   (9) Remove the bolt (30) and loop clamp (31) that attach the secondary supply hose (28) to the fuel supply support bracket (14).
   (10) Remove the bolt (34) and loop clamp (33) that attach the supply hose (32) to the fuel supply support bracket (14).
   (11) Remove the bolt (17) and loop clamp (15) that attach the main supply hose (16) to the fuel supply support bracket (14).
   (12) Remove and discard the safety cable from the supply hose (32).
   (13) Disconnect the supply hose (32) from the SCU/SVA (5).
   (14) Remove and discard the safety cable from the main supply hose (16).
   (15) Disconnect the main supply hose (16) from the SCU/SVA (5).
   (16) Remove the four bolts (19) that attach the P23 fuel supply hose (18) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (17) Remove and discard the gasket (20).
   (18) Remove the four bolts (21) that attach the support bracket (26) and the fuel PB return hose (22) to the SCU/SVA (5) and remove the support bracket (26) from the engine.
   (19) Remove and discard the gasket (27).
   (20) Disconnect the PHS fuel tube (6) from the SCU/SVA (5).
   (21) Remove the four bolts (11) that attach the VBV-VSV fuel manifold (10) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (22) Remove and discard the gasket (9).
   (23) Remove the four bolts (1) that attach the MTC ACC fuel manifold (13) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (24) Remove and discard the gasket (12).
   (25) Remove the four bolts (3) that attach the TBV-SBV fuel manifold (2) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (26) Remove and discard the gasket (4).

PRE SB 72-0207

   (27) Remove the bolt (44) that attaches the fuel supply support bracket (14) and the aft heat shield (38) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (28) Remove the two bolts (45) that attach the SCU bracket (43) to the SCU bracket (42) and remove the SCU bracket (43) from the engine.
   (29) Remove the bolt (37) attached with the fuel supply support bracket (14) and the aft heat shield (38) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (30) Remove the bolt (39) that attaches the aft heat shield (38) to the SCU/SVA (5) and remove the aft heat shield (38) from the engine.
   (31) Remove the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) from under the SCU/SVA (5).
   (32) Install the 956A1614G01 ADAPTER, SCU/SVA on the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE.
NOTE: Refer to the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE for operation/adjustment instructions.
   (33) Move the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE with the 956A1614G01 ADAPTER, SCU/SVA fully extended in position next to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (34) Attach the 956A1614G01 ADAPTER, SCU/SVA.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE SCU/SVA SEATS COMPLETELY ON THE SCU/SVA ADAPTER (956A1614G01) BEFORE YOU LOOSEN THE BOLTS THAT ATTACH THE SCU/SVA TO THE ENGINE BRACKETS. IF THE SCU/SVA DOES SEAT COMPLETELY, IT CAN FALL AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
     (a) Carefully attach the 956A1614G01 ADAPTER, SCU/SVA to the SCU/SVA (5).
NOTE: Refer to the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE for operation/adjustment instructions.
   (35) Remove the two bolts (40) that attach the SCU bracket (50) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (36) Remove the bolt (46) that attaches the SCU bracket (41) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (37) Remove the bolt (47) that attaches the SCU bracket (48) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (38) Remove the two bolts (51) that attach the SCU bracket (49) to the SCU bracket (50) and remove the SCU bracket (50) from the engine.
   (39) Remove the two bolts (53) that attach the SCU bracket (41) to the SCU bracket (55) and remove the SCU bracket (41) from the engine.
   (40) Remove the two bolts (54) that attach the SCU bracket (48) to the SCU bracket (56) and remove the SCU bracket (48) from the engine.

   (41) Remove the bolt (44) that attaches the SCU bracket (43) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (42) Remove the two bolts (45) that attach the SCU bracket (52) to SCU bracket (43) and remove the SCU bracket (43) from the engine.
   (43) Remove the bolt (37) attached with the fuel supply support bracket (14) and the aft heat shield (38) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (44) Remove the bolt (39) that attaches the aft heat shield (38) to the SCU/SVA (5) and remove the aft heat shield (38) with the attached fuel supply support bracket (14) from the engine.
   (45) Remove the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) from under the SCU/SVA (5).
   (46) Install the 956A1614G01 ADAPTER, SCU/SVA on the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE.
NOTE: Refer to the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE for operation/adjustment instructions.
   (47) Move the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE with the 956A1614G01 ADAPTER, SCU/SVA fully extend in position next to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (48) Attach the 956A1614G01 ADAPTER, SCU/SVA.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE SCU/SVA SEATS COMPLETELY ON THE SCU/SVA ADAPTER (956A1614G01) BEFORE YOU LOOSEN THE BOLTS THAT ATTACH THE SCU/SVA TO THE ENGINE BRACKETS. IF THE SCU/SVA DOES SEAT COMPLETELY, IT CAN FALL AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
     (a) Carefully attach the 956A1614G01 ADAPTER, SCU/SVA to the SCU/SVA (5).
NOTE: Refer to the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE for operation/adjustment instructions.
   (49) Remove the bolt (47) that attaches the SCU bracket (48) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (50) Remove the bolt (46) that attaches the SCU bracket (41) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (50) Remove the two bolts (40) that attach the SCU bracket (50) to the SCU/SVA (5).
   (51) Remove the two bolts (51) that attach the SCU bracket (50) to the SCU bracket (49) and remove the SCU bracket (50) from the engine.

END OF POST SB 72-0207

   (52) Move the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE.
CAUTION: SLOWLY MOVE THE ASSEMBLY TOWARDS THE ENGINE AFT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE SCU/SVA CAN HIT THE ENGINE KIT.
     (a) Carefully move the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE with the attached SCU/SVA (5) away from the engine in the aft direction.
   (53) Carefully remove the SCU/SVA (5) from the 956A1614G01 ADAPTER, SCU/SVA.

B. General
   (1) Install the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and connectors.
