WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 73-21-05-941-054-A

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:

The ENG/MODE selector switch
The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.

(2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

4. Procedure
Subtask 73-21-05-210-050-A

A. Do the visual inspection of the Fuel Metering Unit (FMU).

INSPECTION/CHECK	MAXIMUM SERVICEABLE LIMITS	REMARKS
1.Examine the FMU for:
A.Signs of fuel leaks	Not permitted.	If you see signs of fuel leaks, replace the FMU gasket seals (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-05-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-05-400-802).
B.Make sure that the FMU is not loose	Not permitted.	If the FMU is loose, tighten the mounting bolts (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-05-400-802).
C.Nick, dents or scratches	Permitted, if they are less than 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) in depth after removal of high metal.
	Not permitted on an edge, on small radius or corners of the assembly.
	Not permitted across mating joints, sealing surfaces or seal grooves.
D.Cracks	Not permitted.	If you see cracks, replace the FMU (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-05-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-05-400-802).
E.Loose FMU electrical connectors	Not permitted.	Tighten the electrical connectors (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).

5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
