C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 73-21-04-010-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Open the left thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure(1) Open the left thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

A. Removal of the Permanent Magnet Alternator (PMA) Stator
(2) Find the PMA stator (1) attached to the front of the Main Gearbox (MGB), at the 8 o'clock position.
(a) Disconnect the wiring harness (W03) connectors (P33) from the oil temperature sensor receptacles (J33) with the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
(b) Disconnect the wiring harnesses (W03) and (W04) and connectors (P11) and (P12) from the PMA stator (1) receptacles (J11) and (J12) with the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
(c) Put the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) under the PMA stator (1).
(d) Loosen the three captive bolts and the PMA stator (1) from the MGB.
(e) Remove the two screws (4) and the face seal (3) from the PMA stator (1).
(f) Examine the face seal (3):
1 If it is in correct condition:
(a) Install the PWA211307 COVER, PROTECTOR on the PMA rotor and tighten the three cap screws fingertight.
(b) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(1) Remove the wiring harnesses from the spring clips as necessary to provide clearance for PMA removal. (2) Find the PMA stator (1) attached to the front of the Main Gearbox (MGB), at the 8 o'clock position.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE PMA STATOR. THE MAGNETS ON THE PMA WILL APPLY A MAGNETIC PULL TO THE STATOR. DAMAGE TO THE STATOR AND THE ROTOR CAN OCCUR IF YOU DO NOT HOLD THE STATOR CAREFULLY.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PMA EXTERNAL COATING WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE PMA STATOR. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, DAMAGE TO ENGINE PARTS CAN OCCUR.
(3) Remove the PMA stator (1) as follows: (a) Disconnect the wiring harness (W03) connectors (P33) from the oil temperature sensor receptacles (J33) with the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
(b) Disconnect the wiring harnesses (W03) and (W04) and connectors (P11) and (P12) from the PMA stator (1) receptacles (J11) and (J12) with the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
(c) Put the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) under the PMA stator (1).
(d) Loosen the three captive bolts and the PMA stator (1) from the MGB.
(e) Remove the two screws (4) and the face seal (3) from the PMA stator (1).
(f) Examine the face seal (3):
1 If it is in correct condition:
- You can use it.
- Discard it.
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(4) Installation of the protection covers: (a) Install the PWA211307 COVER, PROTECTOR on the PMA rotor and tighten the three cap screws fingertight.
(b) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
