3. Job Set-up

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

4. Procedure
Subtask 73-11-50-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove blanking caps and blanking plugs from the disconnected connectors and tubes.
CAUTION: TAKE CARE DURING FUEL RETURN VALVE INSTALLATION NOT TO DAMAGE THE NIPPLES.
   (1) Install the fuel return valve as follows:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the threads of the bolts (30).
     (b) Install and attach the fuel return valve (90) with the bolts (30).
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (30) to between 110 and 100 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.13 m.daN ) T.

B. Connect the fuel tubes as follows:
   (1) Lubricate the nipples with engine oil (Material No.
CP2442) and connect the fuel tubes. Do not torque the
     (a) Shutoff signal tube (80)
     (b) Fuel Pump HP tube (50)
     (c) Fuel Pump LP tube (20)
     (d) IDG tube (40)
     (e) Fuel return tube (10)
   (2) TORQUE the coupling nuts of the tubes as follows:
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
     (a) Shutoff signal tube (80) (from the hydromechanical unit-HMU) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN ) T.
     (b) Fuel pump HP tube (50) (from the servo fuel heater circuit) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )

     (c) Fuel pump LP tube (20) to between 550 and 450 lbf.in (6.22 and 5.09 m.daN )
T.
     (d) Integrated drive generator tube (IDG) (40) to between 550 and 450 lbf.in (6.22 and 5.09 m.daN )
T.
     (e) Fuel return tube (10) to between 1050 and 1000 lbf.in (11.87 and 11.30 m.daN )
T.
   (3) Connect the electrical connectors J7 (70) and J8 (60). Tighten connector by hand plus one eight turn using PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.

   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
