3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 73-11-35-420-050-A
A. Installation of the FRV (1)
WARNING: USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE COUPLING NUT. ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION AND ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT. THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE HARDWARE.
   (1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (2) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
   (3) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (14) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (4) Install the FRV (1) in the correct position on the three mounting brackets (16).
   (5) Install the four bolts (14) and four washers (15) on the FRV (1) and tighten them with your hand.
   (6) TORQUE the four bolts (14) to between 74.55 and 67.45 lbf.in (0.84 and 0.76 m.daN ) T.
   (7) Connection of the fuel tubes to the FRV (1):
     (a) Lubricate the threads of the four coupling nuts (13), (11), (9) and (7) with the engine oil (Material No.
CP2442) .
     (b) Engage and tighten the coupling nut (13) of the fuel tube (12) with your hand.
     (c) TORQUE the coupling nut (13) to between 300 and 270 lbf.in (3.39 and 3.05 m.daN ) T.
     (d) Engage and tighten the coupling nut (11) of the fuel tube (10) with your hand.
     (e) TORQUE the coupling nut (11) to between 300 and 270 lbf.in (3.39 and 3.05 m.daN )
T.
     (f) Engage and tighten the coupling nut (9) of the fuel tube (8) with your hand.
     (g) TORQUE the coupling nut (9) to between 300 and 270 lbf.in (3.39 and 3.05 m.daN )
T.
     (h) Engage and tighten the coupling nut (7) of the fuel tube (6) with your hand.
     (i) TORQUE the coupling nut (7) to between 300 and 270 lbf.in (3.39 and 3.05 m.daN )
T.
   (8) Connection of the fuel return hose (4) to the FRV (1) (
Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-49-400-804).
   (9) Connection of the harness electrical connectors to the applicable receptacles of the FRV (1):
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: YOU MUST NOT USE PLIERS WITH METAL JAWS TO TIGHTEN OR LOOSEN THE CONNECTOR. THE METAL JAWS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CONNECTOR.
     (a) Connect the HJ8B harness electrical connector (3) to the FRV (1).
     (b) Connect the HJ8A harness electrical connector (2) to the FRV (1).

B. Test
   (1) Do an actuator test (Menu mode) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-802).
