Subtask 72-62-00-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)

C. Make sure that the thrust reverser is unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
4. Procedure
Subtask 72-62-00-210-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspect gaskets (90), (240) and (410) for condition. If necessary replace damaged gaskets.
Subtask 72-62-00-480-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Install the TGB on the 856A2719 FIXTURE,SUPPORT-TGB R/I (G02) as follows:
F Removal of the TGB ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
NOTE: In the procedure which follows, the AGB is supposed to be installed on the engine and held in position by the 856A2805 TURNBUCKLE-TGB R/I (G01).
   (1) Adjust the 2 front plates on the tool to engage the 2 lockpins in the forward flange holes at the 4:30 and 7:30 o'clock positions. Tighten the 2 knurled knobs.
   (2) Attach the support, with the lockpin, to the rear mount flange of the TGB.
Subtask 72-62-00-420-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Install the radial drive shaft (440) in the TGB fan frame and IGB as follows:
   (1) Remove the radial drive shaft from the storage tube assy.
   (2) Install new O-ring:
CAUTION: NEVER INSTALL O-RINGS ALREADY USED.
     (a) Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to a new AIPC 72-62-00-05-020 O-RING (450), and install it in its groove on the radial drive shaft.
F Extraction of Radial Drive Shaft ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (3) Coat the shaft splines.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL TO APPLY THE VASELINE (CP5070) IN A CLEAN AREA, HIDDEN FROM THE WIND, TO AVOID ANY CONTAMINATION OF THE BEARING.
     (a) Lightly coat the shaft splines (both ends) and the roller bearing to prevent the fall of the rollers with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
   (4) Install the 856A2727 PULLER RADIAL DRIVE SHAFT (G01), in the lower end of shaft and use the tool as a pusher to install.
   (5) Slide the shaft in the fan frame strut, and engage the splines of the shaft in the splines of the IGB.
   (6) Make sure that the shaft remains in place, and remove the puller.
Subtask 72-62-00-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Installation of the TGB on the fan frame
   (1) Remove the handcranking cover (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-000-004).
   (2) Remove the handcranking drive and disengage the horizontal drive shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-860-002).
   (3) Remove the covers plugs and cap from the TGB housing.
   (4) Remove the cover from the AGB horizontal drive shaft housing.
   (5) Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the splines of the horizontal drive shaft and to the gasket (410) that you must install between the AGB and the TGB.
   (6) Lubricate a new AIPC 72-62-00-05-060 SEAL RING (295) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) and install into the seal groove on the TGB adapter.
   (7) Lubricate a new AIPC 72-63-00-04-010 O-RING (420) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) . Install the O-ring (420) on the horizontal drive shaft.
F Removal of Mounting Pin ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (8) Install a new AIPC 72-62-00-05-030 O-RING (430) in the groove on the oil distributor in the bevel gear:
F Removal of Mounting Pin ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Engage the AIPC 72-62-00-05-030 O-RING (430) by the hole of the oil distributor in the bevel gear with PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.
     (b) Put the
AIPC 72-62-00-05-030 O-RING (430) in the groove of the oil distributor in the bevel gear with PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.
NOTE: Make sure that O-ring (430) is correctly installed in the groove of the oil distributor in the bevel gear.
   (9) With the hydraulic hoist platform, lift and set the TGB to the necessary level under the fan frame. Make sure that the adjacent accessories and tubes are clear of the TGB.
   (10) Adjust the jack details of the fixture to complete the setting of the TGB.
   (11) Install and hold in place the gasket (410) between the mating flanges of the TGB and AGB.
   (12) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) to the threads of 3 bolts (160). Install the bolts at the 2:30, 6:30 and 10:30 o'clock flanged bushings positions with washers (140) and nuts (130) to attach the AGB and TGB. Tighten by hand.
F Removal of the TGB ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (13) Install the TGB mounting pin (400) as follows:
F Removal of Mounting Pin ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the threads of the pin, and install 856A2537 PROTECTOR-MOUNTING PIN (G01) on the threaded end of the pin.
     (b) Install the TGB mount link, located on the fan frame, in the TGB clevis mount. Align the holes, and engage the pin.
     (c) Remove the protector, then install the washer (390) and the nut (380).
     (d) TORQUE to between 800 and 710 lbf.in (9.04 and 8.02 m.daN ) T.
     (e) Safety the nut with a new
AIPC 72-00-00-07-070 COTTER PIN (370).
   (14) Remove the 2 lockpins of the
856A2719 FIXTURE,SUPPORT-TGB R/I (G02) from the 4:30 and 7:30 o'clock position holes in the TGB forward flange. Loosen the handknobs to lower the 2 front plates of the tool.
F Removal of the TGB ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (15) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the threads of 2 bolts (350). Install the bolts at 4:30 and 7:30 o'clock locations with washers (340) and nuts (330). Tighten by hand.
   (16) Install TGB brackets as follows:
     (a) Loosen bolts (160), nuts (130) and washers (140) at the 2:30 and 6:30 locations.
     (b) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the thread of a bolt (190). Install the lower bracket (150) at the bottom and the front face of the TGB/AGB interface. Attach with bolts (160) and (190), washers (140) and (200) and nuts (130) and (210). Tighten by hand.
     (c) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the threads of 2 bolts (190). Install with the support bracket (150) on the LH side of the rear face of the TGB/AGB interface. Attach bolts with nuts (210).
     (d) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the thread of a bolt (300). Install the forward bracket (260) on the RH upper corner of the TGB. Attach with the bolt (300). TORQUE to between 110 and 100 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.13 m.daN ) T.
     (e) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the threads of 2 bolts (190). Install with bracket and bolt (160) on the RH side of the TGB/AGB interface. Attach bolts with nuts (210) (130) and one washer (200) for the lower nut.
   (17) Install the 3 remaining bolts (190), washers (200) and nuts (210), threads of bolts lightly coated with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
   (18) TORQUE all the bolts of the TGB/AGB interface to between 280 and 250 lbf.in (3.16 and 2.83 m.daN ) T.
Subtask 72-62-00-080-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
E. Removal of support equipments:
   (1) Removal of the
856A2719 FIXTURE,SUPPORT-TGB R/I (G02).
F Removal of the TGB ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove the pin which attaches the fixture to the TGB rear mount.
     (b) Lower the fixture with the hydraulic hoist platform, and remove it.
   (2) Removal of the 856A2805 TURNBUCKLE-TGB R/I (G01)
F AGB/TGB Turnbuckle Installation ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Loosen the coupling screw.
     (b) Remove screws and washers which attach baseplate of tool to rear face of AGB.
     (c) Remove the pin which attaches the turnbuckle yoke to the flange of the fan inlet case, and remove the turnbuckle (856A2805).
   (3) Reinstall bolt and nut removed from the flange G, bolt head forward. TORQUE bolt to between 110 and 100 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.13 m.daN ) T.
Subtask 72-62-00-410-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL Subtask 72-62-00-420-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
G. Installation of the TGB external parts.
   (1) Install the brackets as follows.
     (a) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the threads of 2 bolts (360), and attach the bracket (60) to the rear face of the TGB housing (120). TORQUE the bolts to between 110 and 100 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.13 m.daN ) T.

     (b) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) to the threads of 2 bolts (290), and attach the rear bracket (270) to the RH side of the TGB housing (120). TORQUE the bolts to between 110 and 100 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.13 m.daN ) T.

     (c) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) to the threads of 2 bolts (290). Position bleed bias bracket (280) on the RH rear bracket (270). Attach the brackets to the TGB housing (120) with bolts (290). TORQUE the bolts to between 110 and 100 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.13 m.daN ) T.
     (d) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) to the threads of one bolt (70), and attach the lower bracket (80) to the RH side of the TGB housing (120). Tighten by hand.
     (e) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the threads of 2 bolts (50 and 40), and attach the upper bracket (30) to the rear face of the TGB housing. Attach the brackets together to the LH side of the TGB housing.
     (f) TORQUE the 3 bolts (50, 40 and 70) to between 110 and 100 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.13 m.daN ) T.

   (2) Install the tubes on the TGB housing (120) as follows:
     (a) Connect the TGB oil supply tube (180) as follows:
       1 Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the threads of the nipple.
       2 Connect tube:
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
         a Connect the oil supply tube to the nipple with the union nut (100). Make sure that the tube is unstrained. TORQUE the nut to between 300 and 270 lbf.in (3.39 and 3.05 m.daN ) T.
     (b) Connect the oil tank vent tube (220) assy as follows :
       1 Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the gasket (240).
       2 Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the threads of 4 bolts (230).
       3 Install the gasket, and attach the oil vent tube (220) flange to the TGB housing with the 4 bolts (230). TORQUE to between 50 and 45 lbf.in (0.57 and 0.51 m.daN ) T.
     (c) Connect the TGB scavenge tube (170) as follows:
       1 Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the gasket (90).
       2 Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the threads of 4 bolts (110).
       3 Install the gasket (90), and attach the scavenge tube (170) flange to the TGB housing (120) with the 4 bolts (110). TORQUE to between 50 and 45 lbf.in (0.57 and 0.51 m.daN ) T.
     (d) Do a check of the oil scavenge plug lockwire. Proceed as follows if lockwire is not present.
F Scavenge Plug Removal ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
       1 Loosen the scavenge plug from the TGB housing.
       2 Remove and discard the O-ring (10).
       3 Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to a new AIPC 72-62-00-05-040 O-RING (10) and to the threads of the scavenge plug (20). Install the O-ring (10) on the drain plug (20).
       4 Tighten the drain plug (20) on the TGB housing. TORQUE to between 130 and 110 lbf.in (1.47 and 1.24 m.daN )
T and wirelock with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

   (1) Do an idle check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-006) and check the TGB and tubes for leaks (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-210-005).
   (2) Check the oil level (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-001).
   (3) Do an acceleration/deceleration check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-010).
