Subtask 72-51-41-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
Subtask 72-51-41-110-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(1) Lubricate the EIPC 72-58-01-80-030 PACKING (3) withV10-077 lubricant (engine oil) .
(a) Install the packing (3) on the No.5 bearing compartment cover (2).
(b) Make sure that the open side of the packing shows in forward direction.
(2) Install the compartment cover (2) on the turbine exhaust case.
(3) Install the rear thermal blanket (1) on the cover.
(a) Align the bolt holes.
(4) Apply anti-seize paste (Material No.V10-129) on the threads and the underside of the bolt heads.
(5) Install the 13 bolts.
(a) TORQUE the bolts to between 72 and 62 lbf.in (0.81 and 0.70 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(b) Remove excess paste.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
(4) Make sure that the exhaust cone is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-12-000-010).

C. Deactivate the Thrust Reverser
4. ProcedureWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Make sure that the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) is deactivated (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012): Subtask 72-51-41-110-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Cleaning the Surfaces
(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist withV01-124 Isopropyl Alcohol, Technical grade to clean these parts:
(a) The surfaces of the compartment cover (2).
(b) The surfaces of the rear thermal blanket (1).

(a) The surfaces of the compartment cover (2).
(b) The surfaces of the rear thermal blanket (1).
CAUTION:
WHILE YOU INSTALL THE NO.5 BEARING COMPARTMENT COVER, VISUALLY EXAMINE THE SEAL WITH A FLASHLIGHT AND A MIRROR TO MAKE SURE THAT THE SEAL IS NOT DAMAGED. IF THE SEAL IS DAMAGED, OIL LEAKAGE/LOSS FROM THE NO.5 BEARING COMPARTMENT CAN OCCUR.
B. Installation of Compartment Cover (1) Lubricate the EIPC 72-58-01-80-030 PACKING (3) with
(a) Install the packing (3) on the No.5 bearing compartment cover (2).
(b) Make sure that the open side of the packing shows in forward direction.
(2) Install the compartment cover (2) on the turbine exhaust case.
(3) Install the rear thermal blanket (1) on the cover.
(a) Align the bolt holes.
(4) Apply anti-seize paste (Material No.V10-129) on the threads and the underside of the bolt heads.
(5) Install the 13 bolts.
(a) TORQUE the bolts to between 72 and 62 lbf.in (0.81 and 0.70 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (b) Remove excess paste.
C. Optional Method of Installation of Compartment Cover Using Dry Ice
(1) Lubricate the EIPC 72-58-01-80-050 PACKING (3) withV10-077 lubricant (engine oil) :
(a) Install the packing (3) on to the No. 5 bearing compartment cover (2).
(b) Make sure that the open side of the packing shows in forward direction.
5. Close-up(1) Lubricate the EIPC 72-58-01-80-050 PACKING (3) with
(a) Install the packing (3) on to the No. 5 bearing compartment cover (2).
(b) Make sure that the open side of the packing shows in forward direction.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET THE DRY ICE TOUCH THE SEAL. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(2) Chill the compartment cover in dry ice for a minimum of 1 hour and a maximum of 3 hours. Dry ice must be crushed. Put the convex side of the cover into the crushed dry ice and put crushed dry ice on the concave surface of the cover. NOTE: At least 2 lb (0.91 kg) of crushed dry ice should be used.
