3. Job Set-up
Subtask 72-23-04-941-052-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
   (2) Make sure that the 956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL is installed on the inlet cowl.
   (3) Make sure that the front spinner and fan blade are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-40-000-801) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-20-000-801).
4. Procedure
WARNING: WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE AFT ACOUSTIC PANEL, BE CAREFUL NOT TO HIT THE T12 SENSOR. IF YOU DO, THE T12 SENSOR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO YOU.
CAUTION: IF YOU USE A PNEUMATIC OR ELECTRICAL SCREWDRIVER TO REMOVE AND REINSTALL THE ACOUSTICAL PANEL BOLTS, MAKE SURE THAT THE SCREWDRIVER SPEED IS NOT MORE THAN 150 RPM. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AFT ACOUSTICAL PANEL.

A. Installation of the Aft Acoustical Panel
NOTE: This procedure gives the instructions to install one aft acoustical panel (1). It is also applicable to the other aft acoustical panels (1).
   (1) Make sure that the mating faces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
   (2) Apply graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) under the bolt head and on the threads of the three bolts (3) and the three bolts (2).
   (3) Install the aft acoustical panel (1) in correct position on the fan frame shroud (4) and fan case (5).
   (4) Install the three bolts (2) to attach the aft acoustical panel (1) to the fan frame shroud (4) and tighten them with your hand.
   (5) TORQUE the three bolts (2) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN ) T.
   (6) Install the three bolts (3) to attach the aft acoustical panel (1) to the fan case (5) and tighten them with your hand.
   (7) TORQUE the three bolts (3) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )
T.
   (8) Loosen the three bolts (2) installed at Para. 4.A.(4) through the aft acoustical-panel fixation-holes.
   (9) TORQUE again the three bolts (2) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )
T.
   (10) Remove the unwanted graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) from the three bolts (3) and the three bolts (2).
   (11) Do steps 4.A.(1) thru 4.A.(10) to install the remaining five aft acoustical panels (1).
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY RTV103 IN THE CIRCUMFERENTIAL GAP BETWEEN: - THE AFT ACOUSTIC PANELS AND THE FAN CASE, AND - THE AFT ACOUSTIC PANELS AND THE FAN FRAME SHROUD. THIS GAP MUST STAY EMPTY. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE AIR WILL NOT FLOW CORRECTLY.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU APPLY RTV103, MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET A SMOOTH PROFILE BETWEEN ADJACENT PARTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE AIR WILL NOT FLOW CORRECTLY.
   (12) Optional, apply RTV103 (Material No.CP2734) between the aft acoustical panels (1) as follows:

     (a) Apply primer 1200 OS (Material No.CP2244) in the axial gaps between the aft acoustical panels (1).
     (b) Fill the axial gaps between the aft acoustical panels (1) with RTV103 (Material No.CP2734) .
     (c) Remove the unwanted RTV103 (Material No.CP2734) to get a flush surface between the aft acoustical panels (1).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the fan blades and the front spinner (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-20-400-801) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-40-400-801).
   (3) Remove the 956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL from the inlet cowl.
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
