B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Get Access
   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
461AL, 462AR.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND ADJACENT COMPONENTS.
Subtask 72-21-01-000-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Fan Case Externals
   (1) Remove the fan case externals as follows:
     (a) Remove the two bolts (1) and the bushing (2) from the fan case support-ring.
     (b) Remove the ground cable (WF52) (7) from the fan case as follows:
       1 Remove the air inlet cowl ground cable from the ground cable (WF52) (7) flange A screw (9) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-13-000-801).
       2 Remove the bolt (5), washer (4) and nut (6) from the fan case support-ring.
       3 Remove the screw (9) and the nut (8) from fan case flange A.
       4 Remove the five clamps (19) and the nuts (20) from the five studs.
       5 Remove the ground cable (WF52) (7).
     (c) Remove the ground cable (WF53) (3) from the fan case as follows:
       1 Remove the air inlet cowl ground cable from the ground cable (WF53) (3) flange A screw (9) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-13-000-801).
       2 Remove the bolt (5), washer (4) and nut (6) from the fan case support-ring.
       3 Remove the screw (9) and the nut (8) from fan case flange A.
       4 Remove the two clamps (19) and the nuts (20) from the two studs.
       5 Remove the two clamps (19) and the bolts (5) from the two brackets.
       6 Remove the ground cable (WF53) (3).
     (d) Remove the ground cable (WF50) (29) from the fan case as follows:
       1 Remove the air inlet cowl ground cable from the ground cable (WF50) (29) flange A screw (9) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-13-000-801).
       2 Remove the bolt (5), washer (4) and nut (6) from the fan case support-ring.
       3 Remove the screw (9) and the nut (8) from fan case flange A.
       4 Remove the two clamps (19) and the nuts (20) from the two brackets and the studs.
       5 Remove the four clamps (19) and the nuts (20) from the four studs.
       6 Remove the ground cable (WF50) (29).
     (e) Remove the two bolts (1) and the bushing (2) from the fan case support-ring.
     (f) Remove the ground cable (WF51) (39) from the fan case as follows:
       1 Remove the air inlet cowl ground cable from the ground cable (WF51) (39) flange A screw (9) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-13-000-801).
       2 Remove the bolt (5), washer (4) and nut (6) from the fan case support-ring.
       3 Remove the screw (9) and the nut (8) from fan case flange A.
       4 Remove the two clamps (19) and the nuts (20) from the two brackets and studs.
       5 Remove the two clamps (19) and the nuts (20) from the two studs.
       6 Remove the two clamps (19), the four nuts (20) and the bracket (49) from the four studs.
       7 Remove the ground cable (WF51) (39).
     (g) Remove the four bolts (60) and the plate (61) from the bracket (59).
     (h) Remove the three nuts (20) and the bracket (59) from the three studs.
     (i) Remove the 20 bolts (60), the six plates (62) and the plate (63) from the bracket (64).
     (j) Remove the four nuts (20) and the bracket (64) from the four studs.
   (2) Installation of the protection covers:
CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
     (a) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
