WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

(1) Use this procedure to visually examine the fan blade root area for damage as follows.
(4) Remove the inlet cone (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-01-000-801).
(5) Remove the fan blades as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-03-000-801).

(7) Install the fan blades as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-03-400-801).
(8) Install the inlet cone (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-01-400-801).
(9) Remove the MAT - PROTECTIVE or 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER from the air intake cowl.
(10) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage, and correct assembly.
5. Close-up(1) Use this procedure to visually examine the fan blade root area for damage as follows.
NOTE: For this inspection procedure, the root area is defined as the areas of the fan blade that cannot be inspected while it is installed in an engine.
(2) Put the MAT - PROTECTIVE or 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER in the air intake cowl. WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GLOVES TO PREVENT POSSIBLE INJURY TO THE HANDS WHEN YOU TOUCH OR HOLD THE FAN BLADES. THE BLADE EDGES ARE SHARP AND CAN CUT THE HANDS.
(3) Wear the GLOVES - PROTECTIVE when you touch the blades. (4) Remove the inlet cone (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-01-000-801).
(5) Remove the fan blades as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-03-000-801).

NOTE: Polyurethane coat is black, primer is green and base metal is silver/gray in color. See PWA211814 CHART, PHOTOGRAPH.
NOTE: Blades removed from service because of surface damage can possibly be repaired and put back in a serviceable condition.
