A. Safety Precautions
(1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure that there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
(2) Clean the inspection area with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove unwanted debris, dirt and grease.
(3) Do a detailed inspection of the inlet cowl attach ring.
(a) Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X.
1 Examine the attachment ring for corrosion, nicks, gouges, holes, scratches, missing or loose fasteners and other damage.
a If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
2 Examine the bolts, washers, spacers and nuts that attach the inlet cowl assembly to the engine fan case. Look for damage or missing parts.
a If you find damage or missing parts, replace the parts (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-10-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-10-400-801).
3 Examine the alignment pins, washers and nuts. Look for damage or missing parts. If you find damage or a missing part, replace the part (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-10-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-10-400-801).
5. Close-up(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure that there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.

(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):

(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
