A. Check on Unsatisfactory Wires
(1) Do a shorted wire check on unsatisfactory wires using a MEGOHMMETER - MODEL 1863 or equivalent.
(b) Set the megohmmeter to the 100 VDC scale.
(c) Connect the leads of the megohmmeter to each end of the wire and check the wires resistance.
(d) The resistance must be infinity.
(e) Defective circuits must be repaired ESPM 205000.
(2) Do an insulation resistance check on unsatisfactory wires using a MEGOHMMETER - MODEL 1863 or equivalent.
(a) Disconnect the connectors at each end of the wire harness which contains the unsatisfactory wire.
(b) Set the megohmmeter to the 500 VDC scale.
(c) Connect one test lead of the megohmmeter to the backshell body of the connector.
(d) Connect the other lead to the contact (pin or contact of the connector) of the connector.
(e) Measure the resistance. The resistance must be a minimum of 20 megohms.
5. Close-up(1) Do a shorted wire check on unsatisfactory wires using a MEGOHMMETER - MODEL 1863 or equivalent.
CAUTION:
YOU MUST DISCONNECT ALL THE CONNECTORS WHICH HAVE A RELATION TO THE CIRCUITS THAT ARE BEING CHECKED. FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL CAUSE UNSATISFACTORY RESISTANCE INDICATIONS AND POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE CIRCUITS.
CAUTION:
DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO CONNECTOR PINS WHEN YOU DO CONTINUITY CHECKS. DAMAGED PINS CAN BECOME LOOSE AND CAN THUS INTERMITTENTLY PREVENT CORRECT CONTINUITY.
(a) Disconnect the connectors at each end of the wire harness which contains the unsatisfactory wire. (b) Set the megohmmeter to the 100 VDC scale.
(c) Connect the leads of the megohmmeter to each end of the wire and check the wires resistance.
(d) The resistance must be infinity.
(e) Defective circuits must be repaired ESPM 205000.
