4. Procedure
Subtask 71-22-11-420-065-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Aft Engine Mount-Bolt One at a Time
   (1) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (2), washers (3) and nuts (6) with anti-seize compound (Material No.V10-078) .
     (a) Installation of the barrel nut:
CAUTION: INSTALL THE BARREL NUT WITH THE ROUNDED SIDE UP. IF NOT, DAMAGE TO THE BARREL NUT CAN OCCUR.
1 Put the barrel nuts (6) with the rounded side up and the retainers (7) in the aft engine mount (4).
     (b) Installation of the washers:
CAUTION: THE INNER DIAMETER OF THE WASHER HAS A CHAMFER ON ONE SIDE ONLY. YOU MUST PUT THE CHAMFER AGAINST THE HEAD OF THE BOLT SO THAT IT AGREES WITH THE RADIUS OF THE HEAD OF THE BOLT. INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE WASHER CAN DAMAGE THE HEAD OF THE BOLT.
1 Put the washers (3) on the bolts (2) so the chamfer of the washer (3) agrees with the radius of the head of the bolt (3).
     (c) Put the bolts (3) through the holes in the pylon and the aft engine mount (4).
     (d) Install the bolts (3) into the barrel nuts (6).
     (e) Do a check of the running torque of the aft mount bolts as follows:
1 Hand install the bolts on the barrel nuts until the bolts become hard to turn.
2 With the WRENCH - TORQUE, screw the bolt into the barrel nut. Two threads must come out of the bottom of the barrel nut. The running TORQUE must be to between 800 and 90 lbf.in (9.04 and 1.02 m.daN ) T.
3 Allow the bolt and the barrel nut cool for one minute.
4 Use the WRENCH - TORQUE to loosen the bolt from the barrel nut. The breakaway TORQUE must be to between 800 and 90 lbf.in (9.04 and 1.02 m.daN )
T.
5 If the barrel nut does not keep the correct running torque, replace the barrel nut and do again Steps 4.(1).(a) through 4.(1).(e).
     (f) Torque the aft engine mount bolt:
       1 Use the
98D71203001000 CHEST,TORQUE SET-ENGINE R I to TORQUE the aft engine mount bolts to the final torque value to between 520 and 480 lbf.ft (70.50 and 65.08 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
     (g) Safety of the bolts:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
CAUTION: YOU CAN USE SAFETY CABLE OR SAFETY WIRE TO SAFETY THE BOLTS. YOU MUST INSTALL THE SAFETY WIRE OR THE CABLE TIGHTLY. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, DAMAGE TO THE PYLON CAN OCCUR.
1 Install the safety cable (Material No.V02-275) for each bolt (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-016).
       2 Alternate:
a Use the lockwire (Material No.V02-147) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-014) or safety cable (Material No.V02-272) or safety cable (Material No.V02-273) or safety cable (Material No.V02-274) or safety cable (Material No.V02-276) or safety cable (Material No.V02-277) or safety cable (Material No.V02-278) or safety cable (Material No.V02-279) . Or use the safety cable (Material No.V02-280) or safety cable (Material No.V02-281) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-016).
NOTE: You can use the lockwire diameters ranging from 0.031 in. (0.79 mm) to 0.047 in. (1.19 mm) to safety the bolts.
