DO NOT INSTALL THE FAN COWL(S) WHEN THE WIND SPEED IS 60mph (96km/h) OR MORE. INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR IF THE WIND MOVES THE FAN COWL(S).

BE CAREFUL IF YOU INSTALL THE FAN COWL(S) WHEN THE WIND SPEED IS 30mph (48kmh) OR MORE. INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR IF THE WIND MOVES THE FAN COWL(S).
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL DURING THE REMOVAL OR INSTALLTION OF THE RIGHT FAN COWL. IT WEIGHS 103lb (47kg). IF IT FALLS, IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
SBN71-0331 (EQUIVALENT TO AIRBUS SERVICE BULLETIN SB 71-1069) INTRODUCES A LOCKABLE LATCH IN THE NUMBER 1 POSITION. THUS, WHEN YOU INSTALL A NEW COWL DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT THE KEEPER IS INSTALLED WITH THE CORRECT LATCH ON THE FAN COWL DOOR.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
1. Reason for the JobThis TASK is for V2500-A5 engines. also have a strake installed.
NOTE: SBN71-0331 (equivalent to Airbus sevice bulletin SB 71-1069) introduces a lockable latch in the forward position (latch No. 1) that must be opened and closed and locked with a key and flag assembly. The key and flag assembly is stowed in the cockpit and must not be used if there is damage to the key or flag.
NOTE: If the fan cowl strake configuration to be installed is different from the configuration removed, refer to Service Bulletin (SB): V2500-NAC-71-0258.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.

C. Attach the Sling
(1) Remove the caps (4) from the right fan-cowl sling-points.
(2) Attach the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING (1) to the HOIST 100 KG (220 LB) and the right fan cowl 438AR (448AR) (3).
Subtask 71-13-16-080-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the caps (4) from the right fan-cowl sling-points.
(2) Attach the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING (1) to the HOIST 100 KG (220 LB) and the right fan cowl 438AR (448AR) (3).
D. Remove the right fan cowl (3) from the IAE1N20402 DOLLY-FAN COWL DOORS with the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING and the hoist.
Subtask 71-13-16-110-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL E. Clean the Fan Cowl:
(1) Clean the right fan cowl hinges (6) and the pylon hinges with a lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) made moist cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) .
Subtask 71-13-16-210-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Clean the right fan cowl hinges (6) and the pylon hinges with a lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) made moist cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) .
F. Examine the right fan cowl hinges (6) and the pylon hinges and make sure that they have no damage.
4. ProcedureSubtask 71-13-16-420-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Install the Right Fan Cowl
(2) Align the fan cowl hinges (6) with the pylon hinges.
(3) Install the bolts (5) to the right fan-cowl hinges (6) and the pylon hinges.
71131680-050 NUT, SELF LOCKING 7 on to the bolts (5).
(5) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 38.5 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.44 and 0.36 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
Subtask 71-13-16-080-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE FAN COWL DOOR IN POSITION. IF THE DOOR IS NOT HELD CORRECTLY, DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
(1) Lift the fan cowl (3) with the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING and the HOIST 100 KG (220 LB) and install it at the pylon. (2) Align the fan cowl hinges (6) with the pylon hinges.
(3) Install the bolts (5) to the right fan-cowl hinges (6) and the pylon hinges.
NOTE: Make sure that each bolt is installed in the same position and direction as written in the removal task (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-16-000-010).
(4) Install the washers (8) and new (5) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 38.5 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.44 and 0.36 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). NOTE: The nuts (7) are supplied lubricated. More lubrication is not necessary.
B. Remove the Sling
(1) Lower the right fan cowl.
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(3) Remove the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING.
(4) Install the caps (4) in to the fan-cowl sling points.
Subtask 71-13-16-200-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Lower the right fan cowl.
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(3) Remove the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING.
(4) Install the caps (4) in to the fan-cowl sling points.
C. Check Electrical bonding
(1) Make sure that the resistance value (Ohmic) between the fan cowl door hinge and the pylon is correct (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-869-002).

D. Make sure that the fan cowl latches are aligned (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-800-010).
(1) Make sure that the gearbox breather outlet duct (GBOD) aligns with the gearbox breather outlet vent on the RH fan cowl. If it does not align, loosen the GBOD fasteners, align the GBOD with the vent, and torque the fasteners (Ref. AMM TASK 72-61-49-400-010).
5. Close-up(1) Make sure that the gearbox breather outlet duct (GBOD) aligns with the gearbox breather outlet vent on the RH fan cowl. If it does not align, loosen the GBOD fasteners, align the GBOD with the vent, and torque the fasteners (Ref. AMM TASK 72-61-49-400-010).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):

(4) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.
(5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(6) Remove the access platform(s).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):

(5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
