Removal of the Right Fan Cowl (438AR, 448AR)

DO NOT OPEN THE FAN COWL(S) WHEN THE WIND SPEED IS 60 MPH (96 KM/H) OR MORE. INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR IF THE WIND MOVES THE FAN COWL(S).

WARNING:
BE CAREFUL DURING THE REMOVAL OR INSTALLTION OF THE RIGHT FAN COWL. IT WEIGHS 103lb (47kg). IF IT FALLS, IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
1. Reason for the JobThis TASK is for V2500-A5 engines.
NOTE: SBN71-0331 (equivalent to Airbus service bulletin SB71-1069) introduces a lockable latch in the forward position (latch No. 1) that must be opened and closed and locked with a key and flag assembly. The key and flag assembly is stowed in the cockpit and must not be used if there is damage to the key or flag.

Subtask 71-13-16-941-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-13-16-480-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.

B. Attach the Sling
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
(2) Remove the caps (4) from the right fan-cowl sling-points.
(3) Attach the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING (1) to the HOIST 100 KG (220 LB) and the right fan cowl (448AR, 438AR).
Subtask 71-13-16-010-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
(2) Remove the caps (4) from the right fan-cowl sling-points.
(3) Attach the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING (1) to the HOIST 100 KG (220 LB) and the right fan cowl (448AR, 438AR).
C. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
(2) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
437AL 438AR.
(3) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.
(4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

437AL 438AR.
(3) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.
(4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
Subtask 71-13-16-020-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the Right Fan Cowl:
(a) Hold up the weight of the right fan cowl (3) with the hoist.
(b) Make a note of the position and direction of each bolt (5) before it is removed.
(d) Remove the bolts (5) from the hinges.
(e) Keep the bolts (5) and the washers (8) for the installation.
(f) Discard the nuts (7).
(2) Remove the right fan cowl and lower the cowl door on to the IAE1N20402 DOLLY-FAN COWL DOORS.
Subtask 71-13-16-080-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE FAN COWL DOOR IN POSITION. IF THE DOOR IS NOT HELD CORRECTLY, DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
(1) Remove the hinge bolts from the right fan cowl. (a) Hold up the weight of the right fan cowl (3) with the hoist.
(b) Make a note of the position and direction of each bolt (5) before it is removed.
NOTE: Each bolt (5) must be installed in the installation task (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-16-400-010) in the same position and direction as it was removed.
(c) Remove the nuts (7) and the washers (8) from the bolts (5). (d) Remove the bolts (5) from the hinges.
(e) Keep the bolts (5) and the washers (8) for the installation.
(f) Discard the nuts (7).
(2) Remove the right fan cowl and lower the cowl door on to the IAE1N20402 DOLLY-FAN COWL DOORS.
B. Remove the Sling
(1) Remove the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING.
(2) Install the caps (4) in the right fan cowl (3).
(1) Remove the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING.
(2) Install the caps (4) in the right fan cowl (3).
