A. Shutdown of the Engine for an Emergency
(1) Quickly and immediately move the Engine 1 or Engine 2 thrust lever to the IDLE position.
(2) If conditions permit, operate the engine at IDLE for ten minutes before you shut down the engine. Otherwise, go to Step 4.A.(3).
(a) Set the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch to OFF.
(5) If the engine shutdown was a hot shutdown, do the steps that follow:
(a) In less than five minutes after the emergency shutdown (or when N2 is less than 20%), dry-motor the engine as follows (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-817).
1 Dry motor the engine but do not exceed the extended starter duty cycle of 15 minutes maximum continuous cranking.
(6) Set the EXT LT/BEACON switch to OFF position.
(7) Maintenance action is due.
(8) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
(9) Installation of protection covers
5. Close-up(1) Quickly and immediately move the Engine 1 or Engine 2 thrust lever to the IDLE position.
(2) If conditions permit, operate the engine at IDLE for ten minutes before you shut down the engine. Otherwise, go to Step 4.A.(3).
NOTE: An emergency shutdown is a shutdown from power levels higher than IDLE. Use this emergency shutdown procedure only for emergency conditions which do not let you use a normal shutdown procedure.
NOTE: A hot shutdown is considered to be shutting down the engine that was operated above 70% N1 for more than one minute in preceding 20 minutes of operation.
(3) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU: (a) Set the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch to OFF.
NOTE: This will stop the fuel supply to the engine.
(4) If the engine has a tail pipe fire, dry-motor the engine with the starter when N2 is less than 20% on the engine display panel, until the fire goes out. Do not obey the starter time limits if the engine has a tailpipe fire (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-817).
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(a) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine. Subtask 71-00-00-860-264-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) On HYD/FUEL panel 40VU:
(a) Release all the FUEL/PUMPS pushbutton switches (the OFF legends of these pushbutton switches come on).
(2) Do the EIS stop procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
(3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
