A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the applicable wing leading edge at slat 3, zone 521 (621).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Extend the slats fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
   (2) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever.

D. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
   (2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the top and bottom surfaces of the slat 3 trailing edge.
   (3) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure

A. Detailed Inspection of Slat 3, Trailing Edge, Lower Face, LH/RH
   (1) Examine the slat 3, trailing edge, lower face, LH/RH. Make sure that:
  • there are no cracks
  • there is no corrosion
  • there is no damage
  • the surface protection is in the correct condition.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 574000 for the correct repair procedure.
5. Close-up

C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the safety barriers.
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
