C. Sealant Application
   (1) If the sealant cure time is sufficient before the flight:
     (a) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Fillet - (Material No.
06ACB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) between the edge of the navigation-light glazing panel (2) and the aircraft structure.
     (b) If necessary, refer to SRM 517611 for the correct repair procedure to apply the sealant between the glazing and the glazing frame.
   (2) If the sealant cure time is not sufficient before the flight, do step (a) or (b), as applicable:
     (a) Apply Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) on the edge of the navigation-light glazing panel (2) and the aircraft structure without sealant, as follows:
CAUTION: WHEN YOU APPLY THE TAPE, MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO BUBBLES. THIS WILL HELP TO PREVENT THE REMOVAL OF THE TAPE DURING FLIGHT.
1 Apply a strip of Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) on the edge of the navigation-light glazing panel (2) and the aircraft structure.
2 Make an overlap with Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) around the navigation-light glazing panel (2) to make sure that the surface is smooth.
NOTE: The minimum overlap length of the tape must be 25 mm (1 in.).
3 Make sure that the tape is not installed:
  • On the glazing of the navigation-light glazing panel (2)
  • On the fillet seal around the glazing of the navigation-light glazing panel (2).
4 Do a visual inspection of the tape before each flight.
5 If the tape is damaged:
a Remove the damaged tape and apply new Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) .
b Do the operational test of the navigation lights (Ref. AMM TASK 33-41-00-710-001).
6 Remove the tape before 50 flight cycles.
7 Clean the component interfaces and/or the adjacent area with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
8 Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06ACB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) between the edge of the navigation-light glazing panel (2) and the aircraft structure.
9 If necessary, refer to SRM 517611 for the correct repair procedure to apply the sealant between the glazing and the glazing frame.
     (b) Apply Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) on the edge of the navigation-light glazing panel (2) and the aircraft structure, after the sealant is not tacky, as follows:
1 Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06ACB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) between the navigation-light glazing panel (2) and the aircraft structure.
2 Make sure that the sealant is not tacky.
NOTE: The Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06ACB1) is not tacky after three hours.
The cure time of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06ACB1) is four hours.
This time does not include the flight hours because, during the flight, the temperature is less than 10 deg.C (50 deg.F) and the applied sealant does not dry.
3 Apply Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) as follows:
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU APPLY THE TAPE, MAKE SURE THAT THE SEALANT IS NOT TACKY. IF IT IS TACKY, THE TAPE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SEALANT.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU APPLY THE TAPE, MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO BUBBLES. THIS WILL HELP TO PREVENT THE REMOVAL OF THE TAPE DURING FLIGHT.
a Apply the Release Agent-- Water Base - (Material No.14DAB1) on the sealant.
NOTE: This will help to remove the tape after the sealant cures.
b Apply a strip of Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) on the edge of the navigation-light glazing panel (2) and the aircraft structure.
c Make an overlap with Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) around the navigation-light glazing panel (2) to make sure that the surface is smooth.
NOTE: The minimum overlap length of the tape must be 25 mm (1 in.).
d Make sure that the tape is not installed:
  • On the glazing of the navigation-light glazing panel (2)
  • On the fillet seal around the glazing of the navigation-light glazing panel (2).
4 Do a visual inspection of the applied tape before each flight.
5 If the applied tape is damaged:
a Remove the damaged tape and apply new Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) .
b Do the operational test of the navigation lights (Ref.

8 Make sure that the applied sealant is fully dry and has no damage.
