A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.
(2) Make sure the safety devices are correctly installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001) and the landing gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
(3) Make sure the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the landing gear or the landing gear doors.
Subtask 57-26-13-860-052-A (1) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.
(2) Make sure the safety devices are correctly installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001) and the landing gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
(3) Make sure the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the landing gear or the landing gear doors.
B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position below the applicable zone 571 (671).
(2) Make sure that the applicable MLG assembly has been removed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-11-000-001).
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position below the applicable zone 571 (671).
(2) Make sure that the applicable MLG assembly has been removed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-11-000-001).
Subtask 57-26-13-420-054-D
A. Preparation for Installation
(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(5) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) , Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) on the interface and the threads of the bearing housing-halves (11).
(6) Fill the grease grooves in the bearing (12) and the bearing housing-halves (11) with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) , Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) .
(7) Install the two new AIPC 57-26-13-02-070 O-RING SEALS (10) in the seal grooves of the bearing (12).
(8) Assemble the bearing housing-halves (11) and the bearing (12).
(9) Make sure that the identification groove in the bearing (12) is adjacent to the flange of the bearing-housing assembly (4).
(10) Use the 98D57004003000 SOCKET-RING (FOR NUT OF FWD PINTLE BEARING) to install the bearing-housing assembly (4) in the forward pintle fitting.
(11) TORQUE the bearing-housing assembly (4) to between 5.88 and 5.32 m.daN (43.36 and 39.23 lbf.ft )
.
(12) Make sure that the joint line of the bearing housing-halves (11) is not more than 20 degrees from the aircraft horizontal (dimension B).
(13) If the dimension B is more than 20 degrees, do the steps that follow:
(a) Remove the bearing-housing assembly (4).
(b) Remove the laminations from the shim (3) as necessary.
(c) Make sure that the shim has a maximum thickness of 1 mm (0.04 in.).
(e) Install the bearing-housing assembly (4).
(f) TORQUE the bearing-housing assembly (4) to between 9.03 and 8.17 m.daN (66.59 and 60.25 lbf.ft )
.
(g) Do a check of dimension B again.
(14) When dimension B is correct, remove the bearing-housing assembly (4).
(15) Clean the threads of the retaining nut (1) with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(16) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) on the last two threads of the retaining nut (1) (dimension A).
(17) Fill the space between the retaining nut (1) and the bush (2) with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) , Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) .
Subtask 57-26-13-420-050-B NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
NOTE: You can use Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) as an alternative to Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) .
(1) Clean and remove the grease from the parts before you use an alternative grease. (2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(5) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) , Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) on the interface and the threads of the bearing housing-halves (11).
(6) Fill the grease grooves in the bearing (12) and the bearing housing-halves (11) with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) , Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) .
(7) Install the two new AIPC 57-26-13-02-070 O-RING SEALS (10) in the seal grooves of the bearing (12).
(8) Assemble the bearing housing-halves (11) and the bearing (12).
(9) Make sure that the identification groove in the bearing (12) is adjacent to the flange of the bearing-housing assembly (4).
(10) Use the 98D57004003000 SOCKET-RING (FOR NUT OF FWD PINTLE BEARING) to install the bearing-housing assembly (4) in the forward pintle fitting.
(11) TORQUE the bearing-housing assembly (4) to between 5.88 and 5.32 m.daN (43.36 and 39.23 lbf.ft )

(f) TORQUE the bearing-housing assembly (4) to between 9.03 and 8.17 m.daN (66.59 and 60.25 lbf.ft )
. (g) Do a check of dimension B again.
(14) When dimension B is correct, remove the bearing-housing assembly (4).
(15) Clean the threads of the retaining nut (1) with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(16) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) on the last two threads of the retaining nut (1) (dimension A).
(17) Fill the space between the retaining nut (1) and the bush (2) with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) , Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) .
B. Installation of the Bearing Assembly
(1) Install the bearing-housing assembly (4).
(2) TORQUE the bearing-housing assembly (4) to between 5.88 and 5.32 m.daN (43.36 and 39.23 lbf.ft )
.
(3) Install the locking ring (6). Make sure that the chamfer of the locking ring (6) points forward and is correctly aligned with the forward pintle fitting.
(6) Install the four new AIPC 57-26-13-02-038 O-RING SEALS (5) for the four greasers (8) in the seal assembly (7).
(7) Install the four greasers (8).
(8) Install the seal assembly (7) with the ten bolts (9).
14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(10) Apply a fillet of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) around the outer edge of the seal assembly (7).
5. Close-up(1) Install the bearing-housing assembly (4).
(2) TORQUE the bearing-housing assembly (4) to between 5.88 and 5.32 m.daN (43.36 and 39.23 lbf.ft )
. (3) Install the locking ring (6). Make sure that the chamfer of the locking ring (6) points forward and is correctly aligned with the forward pintle fitting.
NOTE: Make sure that the serration of the locking ring is aligned. If not, use the minimum of torque to tighten the bearing housing until it is aligned with the locking ring.
(4) Clean the edge of the locking ring (6) and the adjacent surface of the pintle fitting with: - a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(6) Install the four new AIPC 57-26-13-02-038 O-RING SEALS (5) for the four greasers (8) in the seal assembly (7).
(7) Install the four greasers (8).
(8) Install the seal assembly (7) with the ten bolts (9).
WARNING:

(9) Safety the bolts (9) with (10) Apply a fillet of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) around the outer edge of the seal assembly (7).

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the MLG leg assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-11-400-001).
