A. General
(1) Do this procedure to measure the depth of the scratches during the inspection of:

- The fixed windows (Ref. AMM TASK 56-11-12-200-001)
- The sliding windows (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-200-001).

A. Measurement Procedure
(1) On surface tester SJ210:
(a) Push the POWER/DATA key (4).
(b) Push the START/STOP key (1).
(e) Put the SJ210 SURFACE TESTER in position on the window panel for the detector to be perpendicular to the scratch.
(f) Measure the depth of the scratch:
(h) Because the depth of the scratch can be different along its length, measure the depth at a minimum of three locations along the scratch:
(j) Push and hold the Esc/Guide key (3) for three seconds to set surface tester SJ210 to off.
(k) Push the POWER/DATA key (4) and the START/STOP key (1) at the same time to retract the detector.
(1) On surface tester SJ210:
(a) Push the POWER/DATA key (4).
(b) Push the START/STOP key (1).
- The detector extends.
NOTE: It is not possible to start the measurement when the battery is not sufficiently charged (the low-battery indicator flashes).
(c) If the low-battery indicator flashes:- Connect the power supply adapter to the battery to charge it, or
- Replace the battery.
(e) Put the SJ210 SURFACE TESTER in position on the window panel for the detector to be perpendicular to the scratch.
(f) Measure the depth of the scratch:
- Push the START/STOP key (1) to let the detector measure the depth of the scratch.
(h) Because the depth of the scratch can be different along its length, measure the depth at a minimum of three locations along the scratch:
- At each end and in the middle of the scratch
- At more than three locations if the scratch is long.
NOTE: When the measurement is completed, the measured depth values come into view on the surface tester SJ210 LCD (5).
(i) Compare the largest scratch depth measured with the scratch maximum depth given in the figure related to the scratch inspection (Ref. AMM TASK 56-11-11-200-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 56-11-12-200-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-200-001).(j) Push and hold the Esc/Guide key (3) for three seconds to set surface tester SJ210 to off.
(k) Push the POWER/DATA key (4) and the START/STOP key (1) at the same time to retract the detector.
