(1) Put the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING in the CAPT and F/O side stick controllers.
(2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the flight compartment to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the hydraulic systems.

B. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left elevator, in zone 335
(b) For the right elevator, in zone 345.
(2) Remove the THS trailing-edge access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 55-13-11-000-001):
(a) For the left elevator: 334BB 334DB 334FB 334HB
(b) For the right elevator: 344BB 344DB 344FB 344HB.

C. Removal of the Components
(1) Remove the elevators (Ref. AMM TASK 27-34-41-000-001).

D. Cleaning
(1) Clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , if necessary.

4. Procedure

A. Inspection
(1) Do a detailed inspection of the bores of the elevator actuator attach-fittings and hinge attach fittings. This inspection is applicable for left and right sides.
(2) Make sure that there is no:
(a) Corrosion damage:
If you find corrosion damage, refer to Structural Repair Manual SRM 552647 and SRM 552641 for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
(b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
If you find this type of damage, refer to Structural Repair Manual SRM 552647 and SRM 552641 for the damage types, classification and corrective action.

5. Close-up

A. Installation of the Components
(1) Install the elevators (Ref. AMM TASK 27-34-41-400-001).

B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the THS trailing-edge access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 55-13-11-400-001):
(a) For the left elevator: 334BB 334DB 334FB 334HB
(b) For the right elevator: 344BB 344DB 344FB 344HB.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Remove the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING from the CAPT and F/O side stick controllers.
