A. Inspection
   (1) Do a detailed inspection of the external surface of the horizontal stabilizer end-rib (rib 14), on the left and right sides, for damage or discontinuities.
   (2) Make sure that there is no:
     (a) Corrosion damage:
If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512200) for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 511100) for the damage types, classification and corrective action.

CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION SYSTEM (TPS) TYPE 3 ON THE MOVABLE COMPONENTS. USE ONLY TPS TYPE 1 GRADE 2. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE MECHANISMS WILL NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY.
B. Check and Application of the TPS Layer
NOTE: There is no specific requirement about TPS layer application in this area. The operator can apply TPS or let the surface without protection.
   (1) If the TPS was removed at the "Preparation of the Inspection Area", and you decide to apply a TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (2) If the TPS was not removed at the "Preparation of the Inspection Area", and you decide to apply a TPS layer, do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (3) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer and apply a new layer of TPS (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
NOTE: If, after the check of the condition and integrity, the TPS layer is in the correct condition, and you decide to have a TPS layer, Airbus recommends that you apply a new layer as a spray on the existing layer. This is to make sure that the TPS layer continues to give satisfactory corrosion protection.
