A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).
Subtask 54-57-17-010-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, in zone 415
     (b) For the right pylon, in zone 425.
   (2) Remove the thrust reversers:
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
451AL and 452AR (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-01-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-02-000-802)
     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
461AL and 462AR (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-01-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-02-000-803).
   (3) Remove the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-802):
     (a) For the left pylon: 415AL 415BR
     (b) For the right pylon: 425AL 425BR.
4. Procedure
Subtask 54-57-17-020-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Thrust-Reverser Cowl Fitting at RIB4
   (1) Loosen the nuts (2).
   (2) Remove the nuts (2) and the washers (3).
   (3) Remove the bolts (6) and the washers (5).
   (4) Remove the thrust-reverser cowl fitting (1) and the shim (4).
NOTE: Record the position of the shim (4) and the location and thickness of the peel shim installed on the shim (4).
Do this to put the shim (4) at the same position at the installation.
