Subtask 54-56-00-020-061-B
(1) Put the 98D54403004000 R/I PYLON APF (10) in position below the APF (2).
(2) Remove the screws (1).
(3) If necessary, remove the forward strips (8):
(a) Hold the forward strips (8) and remove the screws (7).
(b) Remove the forward strips (8) from the APF (2).
(4) Remove the nuts (9), the washers (10), the screws (4) and the washers (3).
(5) Remove the screws (6) and the washers (5).
(6) Remove the bolts (11).
(7) Remove the APF (2) from the pylon.

- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES

- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
(2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 54-56-00-040-065-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 54-56-00-010-058-A WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). C. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

(2) Open the thrust-reverser cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)
451AL and 452AR
(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:

D. Removal of the Components
(1) Remove the Rear Pylon Fairing (RPF) - Aft Pylon Fairing (APF) closing assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 54-54-00-000-806).
(2) Remove the Rear Mount Fairing (RMF) doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-57-22-000-815):
(a) For the left pylon: 473AL and 473AR
(b) For the right pylon: 483AL and 483AR.
4. Procedure(1) Remove the Rear Pylon Fairing (RPF) - Aft Pylon Fairing (APF) closing assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 54-54-00-000-806).
(2) Remove the Rear Mount Fairing (RMF) doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-57-22-000-815):
(a) For the left pylon: 473AL and 473AR
(b) For the right pylon: 483AL and 483AR.

CAUTION:
WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SCREWS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU RECORD THE CORRECT POSITION OF EACH OF THEM. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS.
A. Removal of the APF(1) Put the 98D54403004000 R/I PYLON APF (10) in position below the APF (2).
(2) Remove the screws (1).
(3) If necessary, remove the forward strips (8):
(a) Hold the forward strips (8) and remove the screws (7).
(b) Remove the forward strips (8) from the APF (2).
(4) Remove the nuts (9), the washers (10), the screws (4) and the washers (3).
(5) Remove the screws (6) and the washers (5).
(6) Remove the bolts (11).
(7) Remove the APF (2) from the pylon.
