B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, in zone 470
     (b) For the right pylon, in zone 480.
   (4) Open the Rear Mount Fairing (RMF) door (Ref. AMM TASK 54-56-11-010-801):
     (a) For the left pylon: 473AL 473AR
     (b) For the right pylon: 483AL 483AR.

D. Removal of the Components
   (1) Remove the closing sheet metal (Ref. AMM TASK 54-54-00-000-805).

A. Removal of the Aft Pylon Fairing (APF)
F Aft Pylon Fairing ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SCREWS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU RECORD THE CORRECT POSITION OF EACH OF THEM. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS.
   (1) Install the 98D54403004000 R/I PYLON APF (12) in position below the APF (2).
   (2) Remove the screws (1).
   (3) Remove the nuts (8), the screws (11) and the washers (10) and (9).
   (4) Remove the bolts (6) and the washers (7).
   (5) Remove the screws (5).
   (6) Remove the APF (2) from the pylon.
