B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (4) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001) when you do work on the fuel system.

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

E. Removal of Components
   (1) Remove the pylon (Ref. AMM TASK 54-50-00-000-001).
4. Procedure
NOTE: This procedure is the same for the left and the right pylon.
NOTE: You must: remove the bushes on the two fittings, rebore the fittings (when necessary), install the new bushes and rebore the new bushes on the two fittings.
Subtask 54-51-17-020-079-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Bushes with the Tool 98D54003015000 R I RING AT RIB 4/5 (98D54003015000)
   (1) Remove the internal center bushes (7) and (8):
NOTE: The procedure that follows is given for one side and is the same for the other side.
     (a) Install the 4 stops (1).
     (b) Put the expander (2) between the two fittings.
NOTE: You must be careful to put the stops (1) and the expander (2) in position correctly to prevent damage to the fittings during removal of the bushes.
     (c) Install the washer (3) and the nut (4) on the extractor (5).
     (d) Put the extractor (5) into the fittings.
     (e) Put the end of the extractor (5) in position between the two center bushes.
NOTE: You must be careful to put the extractor (5) in position correctly to prevent damage to the bushes.
     (f) Turn the nut (6) of the extractor (5).
     (g) Remove the internal center bush (7). To do this, turn the nut (4).
     (h) Remove the expander (2).
   (2) Remove the other bushes:
NOTE: The procedure that follows is given for one side and is the same for the other side.
     (a) Remove the internal bushes (10) and the external center bushes (11):
       1 Install the push ring (12) on the screw (13).
       2 Install the screw (13) in the fittings.
       3 Install the washer (3) and the nut (4) on the screw (13).
       4 Remove the internal bush (10). To do this, turn the nut (4).
       5 Remove the nut (4) and the washer (3) from the screw (13).
       6 Remove the screw (13) from the fittings.
       7 Remove the internal bush (10).
       8 Install the screw (13) in the fittings.
       9 Install the washer (3) and the nut (4) on the screw (13).
       10 Remove the external center bush (11). To do this, turn the nut (4).
       11 Remove the nut (4) and the washer (3) from the screw (13).
       12 Remove the screw (13) from the fittings.
       13 Remove the external center bush (11).
     (b) Remove the external bushes (20):

       1 Install the push ring (12) on the screw (13).
       2 Install the screw (13) in the fittings.
       3 Install the washer (3) and the nut (4) on the screw (13).
       4 Remove the external bush (20). To do this, turn the nut (4).
       5 Remove the nut (4) and the washer (3) from the screw (13).
       6 Remove the screw (13) from the fittings.
       7 Remove the external bushes (20).

B. Inspection of the Fittings
   (1) Do the inspection of the bores of the fitting.
   (2) Make sure that there is no damage, wear or corrosion and that the diameter of the bore is 44 +0.0 mm or +0.03 mm (1.7323 +0.0000 in. or +0.0012 in.).
   (3) If there is damage or the diameter of the bore is out of the tolerance: rebore the attach fitting to the repair size diameter (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-300-003).

C. Installation of the Bushes with the Tool 98D54003015000 R I RING AT RIB 4/5 (98D54003015000)
NOTE: This procedure is given for one side and is the same for the other side.
   (1) Install the center bushes:
NOTE: This procedure is the same for the external and the internal center bushes.
     (a) Make sure that the surface of the fitting bores is clean. If necessary, clean the surface with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a lint-free cotton cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (b) Install the centering pin (30) and expand it until it touches the fitting bore.
     (c) Install the reducer (31) in the centering pin (30).
     (d) Install the push pin (32) in the reducer (31) without protrusion from the reducer.
     (e) Soak the new center AIPC 54-51-17-01-100 BUSH (34) (or the new center AIPC 54-51-17-01-100 BUSH (35)) in liquid nitrogen for 2 minutes.
NOTE: You must install the bush in less than 20 seconds.
     (f) Install the bush on the bush tool (33) (less than 10 seconds).
     (g) Put the bush in position in front of the bore and push the bush tool (33) with the push pin (32) (less than 10 seconds).
     (h) Apply a force on the bush tool (33) with the push pin (32) for 1 minute.
     (i) Remove the bush tool (33), the push pin (32), the reducer (31) and the centering pin (30).
   (2) Install the external and internal bushes:
NOTE: This procedure is the same for the external and the internal bushes.
     (a) Make sure that the surface of the fitting bores is clean. If necessary, clean the surface with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a lint-free cotton cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (b) Install the centering pin (30) and expand it until it touches the fitting bore.
     (c) Install the reducer (31) in the centering pin (30).
     (d) Install the push pin (32) in the reducer (31) without protrusion from the reducer.
     (e) Soak the new AIPC 54-51-17-01-104 BUSH (36) (or the new AIPC 54-51-17-01-280 BUSH (37)) in liquid nitrogen for 2 minutes.
NOTE: You must install the bush in less than 20 seconds.
     (f) Install the bush on the bush tool (33) (less than 10 seconds).
     (g) Put the bush in position in front of the bore and push the bush tool (33) with the push pin (32) (less than 10 seconds).
     (h) Apply a force on the bush tool (33) with the push pin (32) for 1 minute.
     (i) Remove the bush tool (33), the push pin (32), the reducer (31) and the centering pin (30).

   (1) Install the centering pins (51) and (52) and expand them until they touch the bushes.
   (2) Put the boring bar (53) into the fittings and the centering pins (51) and (52).
   (3) Put the bell (50) in the accurate position.
   (4) Attach the bell (50) with the 3 "C" presses (54).
   (5) Make sure that the boring bar (53) turns freely.
   (6) Remove the boring bar (53).
   (7) Remove the centering pin (51).

NOTE: The procedure that follows is given for one side and is the same for the other side.
   (1) Install the borer (55):
     (a) Make sure that the borer (55) is retracted.
     (b) Hold the borer (55) between the two fittings.
     (c) Put the boring bar (53) into the fittings, the centering pin (52), the borer (55) and the bell (50).
     (d) Install the pin (56) in the boring bar (53).
   (2) Rebore the bushes to get an internal diameter of the bushes of 40 +0 mm or +0.03 mm (1.5748 +0.0000 in. or +0.0012 in.). If necessary, do the reboring procedure that follows again until you get the correct diameter value.
NOTE: The boring thickness is 0.02 +0.00 mm or +0.02 mm (0.0008 +0.0000 in. or +0.0008 in.).
     (a) Expand the borer (55) with the adjustment nut (57).
     (b) Lock the blades of the borer (55) with the locking nut (58).
     (c) Turn the boring bar (53) slowly and push it lightly with a tap wrench to rebore the four bushes.
NOTE: You must always turn the boring bar (53) in the same direction to prevent damage to the borer (55) and to the bushes.
     (d) Turn the boring bar (53) while you pull it to move back the borer (55) between the two fittings.
NOTE: You must continue to turn the boring bar (53) in the same direction (as for the reboring) to prevent damage to the borer (55) and to the bushes.

   (1) Remove the pin (56) from the boring bar (53).
   (2) Remove the boring bar (53) and the borer (55) from the fittings.
   (3) Remove the centering pin (52).
   (4) Remove the 3 "C" presses (54) and the bell (50).
   (5) Make sure that the rebored diameter is in the correct condition and that the diameter value is in the correct tolerance.

NOTE: You must deburr each side of the external bushes and the external side of the center bushes.
NOTE: The deburring procedure is applicable to one side of the bush (61). For the other deburring procedures, do as follows:
  • for the bushes (62) and for the other side of the bush (61), use pliers to install the knife (65) in the correct position.
  • for the bushes (63) and (64), you must change the position of the centering pin (60) on the other side of the fittings.
   (1) Install the centering pin (60) and expand it until it touches the bush.
   (2) Install the reducer (66) in the centering pin (60).
   (3) Install the long bar (67) in the reducer (66).
   (4) Put the knife (65) in position on the bar.
   (5) Tighten the bar (67) on the bar (68) to keep the knife (65) in position.
   (6) Turn the handle of the bar (67) or (68) to deburr the bush.

A. Cleaning of the Fitting
   (1) Clean the fitting with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a lint-free cotton cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .

   (1) Install the pylon (Ref. AMM TASK 54-50-00-400-001).

D. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
