A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
(2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 54-51-00-040-101-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 54-51-00-010-109-A WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). C. Removal of the Panels
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position.
(a) For the left pylon, in zone 470
(b) For the right pylon, in zone 480.
(2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels and doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-806):
(a) For the left pylon: 471AL 471BL 472AR 472BR
(b) For the right pylon: 481AL 481BL 482AR 482BR
Subtask 54-51-00-110-103-A (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position.
(a) For the left pylon, in zone 470
(b) For the right pylon, in zone 480.
(2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels and doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-806):
(a) For the left pylon: 471AL 471BL 472AR 472BR
(b) For the right pylon: 481AL 481BL 482AR 482BR
D. Preparation of the Inspection Area
(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(2) If it is not sufficiently clean, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) Make sure that there is no Temporary Protection System (TPS) layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
(4) Use a FLASHLIGHT and a MIRROR - INSPECTION, if necessary.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(2) If it is not sufficiently clean, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) Make sure that there is no Temporary Protection System (TPS) layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
(4) Use a FLASHLIGHT and a MIRROR - INSPECTION, if necessary.

- If you find corrosion damage, refer to Structural Repair Manual SRM 512200 for types of corrosion, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.
- If you find this type of damage, refer to Structural Repair Manual SRM 511100 for damage classification and corrective action.

A. Installation of the Panels
(1) Install the pylon-to-wing access panels and doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-400-806):
(a) For the left pylon: 471AL 471BL 472AR 472BR
(b) For the right pylon: 481AL 481BL 482AR 482BR.
Subtask 54-51-00-440-100-A (1) Install the pylon-to-wing access panels and doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-400-806):

B. Reactivation of the Thrust Reverser
(1) Make the thrust reverser serviceable after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-807).
