A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) is in position below the APU compartment.
(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position in the flight compartment to tell persons not to start the APU.
(3) Make sure that you applied a layer of the Silicone Sealant-High Temp. - - (Material No.06BJB1) on the sharp edges of the APU access door (1).

A. Inspection of the Components on the APU Access Door
(1) Examine the seals (2), (23) and (24) for damage and chafing.
(2) Examine the seals around the access door opening for damage and chafing.
(3) Examine the four corners of the APU access doors if the joggles are filled up with sealing compound.
(4) Examine the access door strut bracket (20) and the bracket connection for damage.
(5) Examine the bearings (9) and the bearing connection for damage.
(6) Examine the inner skins (3), (4), (5), (8), (25) and (26) for damage.
(7) If necessary, replace the damaged components as given below.
Subtask 52-41-21-960-050-C (1) Examine the seals (2), (23) and (24) for damage and chafing.
(2) Examine the seals around the access door opening for damage and chafing.
(3) Examine the four corners of the APU access doors if the joggles are filled up with sealing compound.
(4) Examine the access door strut bracket (20) and the bracket connection for damage.

(7) If necessary, replace the damaged components as given below.
B. Replacement of the Sealing Profiles at the Door Edge
(1) If the sealing profiles at the door edge are damaged:
(a) Drill out the rivets (30) and (31).
(b) Remove the strips (27), (28) and (29).
(c) Remove and discard the sealing profiles (23) and (24).
(d) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) to the rivets (30) and (31).
(e) Install the new sealing profiles (23) and (24) and the strips (27), (28) and (29) with the rivets (30) and (31) to the APU access door (1).
Subtask 52-41-21-960-055-A (1) If the sealing profiles at the door edge are damaged:
(a) Drill out the rivets (30) and (31).
(b) Remove the strips (27), (28) and (29).
(c) Remove and discard the sealing profiles (23) and (24).
(d) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) to the rivets (30) and (31).
(e) Install the new sealing profiles (23) and (24) and the strips (27), (28) and (29) with the rivets (30) and (31) to the APU access door (1).
C. Replacement of the Sealing Profiles Around the Door Frame
(1) If the seals around the access door opening are damaged, replace them (Ref. AMM TASK 53-58-11-960-801).
Subtask 52-41-21-390-050-A (1) If the seals around the access door opening are damaged, replace them (Ref. AMM TASK 53-58-11-960-801).
D. Replacement of the Sealant at the Corners
(1) If the sealant at the corners is damaged:
(a) Remove the old sealant and clean the corner surface with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(b) Fill up the joggles at the four corners of the door with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) and make the surface smooth.
(c) Let the sealant cure.
Subtask 52-41-21-960-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If the sealant at the corners is damaged:
(a) Remove the old sealant and clean the corner surface with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(b) Fill up the joggles at the four corners of the door with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) and make the surface smooth.
(c) Let the sealant cure.
E. Replacement of the Strut Bracket of the Access Door
(1) If the bracket is damaged, replace it as follows:
(a) Replace the pip-pin (32).
(b) Remove the nut (19), the bolt (21) and the door strut (22).
(c) Remove the screws (16), (17), the washers (15), (18) and the brackets (14), (20).
(d) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the screws (16), (17), to the washers (15), (18) and to the bolt (21).
(e) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) to the mating surfaces of the door strut bracket (20) and the bracket (14).
(f) Install the replacement door strut bracket (20) and the bracket (14) with the screws (16), (17) and the washers (15), (18).
(g) Install the door strut (22) with the bolt (21) and the nut (19).
(h) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the screws (16), (17) to the washers (15), (18), to the bolt (21) and to the nut (19).
(i) Lock the pip-pin (32).
Subtask 52-41-21-560-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If the bracket is damaged, replace it as follows:
(a) Replace the pip-pin (32).
(b) Remove the nut (19), the bolt (21) and the door strut (22).
(c) Remove the screws (16), (17), the washers (15), (18) and the brackets (14), (20).
(d) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the screws (16), (17), to the washers (15), (18) and to the bolt (21).
(e) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) to the mating surfaces of the door strut bracket (20) and the bracket (14).
(f) Install the replacement door strut bracket (20) and the bracket (14) with the screws (16), (17) and the washers (15), (18).
(g) Install the door strut (22) with the bolt (21) and the nut (19).
(h) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the screws (16), (17) to the washers (15), (18), to the bolt (21) and to the nut (19).
(i) Lock the pip-pin (32).
F. Preparation of a Replacement Component
(1) If you replace the APU access door, do the subsequent:
(a) Release the pip-pin (32).
(b) Remove the nut (19) , the bolt (21) and the access door strut (22).
(c) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the bolt (21).
(d) Install the access door strut (22) with the bolt (21) and the nut (19) on the replacement APU access door (1).
(e) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the bolt (21) and the nut (19).
(f) Lock the pip-pin (32).
Subtask 52-41-21-960-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If you replace the APU access door, do the subsequent:
(a) Release the pip-pin (32).
(b) Remove the nut (19) , the bolt (21) and the access door strut (22).
(c) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the bolt (21).
(d) Install the access door strut (22) with the bolt (21) and the nut (19) on the replacement APU access door (1).
(e) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the bolt (21) and the nut (19).
(f) Lock the pip-pin (32).
G. Replacement of the Skin
(1) If the skin is damaged:
(a) Remove the screws (6) and the washers (7).
(b) Remove the damaged inner skins.
(c) Apply a coat of the Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) approx. 5.0 mm (0.1969 in.) wide to the mating surfaces of these overlapping joints:
(e) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the screws (6) and the washers (7).
(f) Install the replacement inner skins with the screws (6) and the washers (7).
(g) For fire protection purposes apply a bead of the Silicone Sealant-Firewall High Temp. - (Material No.06BHG1) to these junctions:
Subtask 52-41-21-960-052-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If the skin is damaged:
(a) Remove the screws (6) and the washers (7).
(b) Remove the damaged inner skins.
(c) Apply a coat of the Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) approx. 5.0 mm (0.1969 in.) wide to the mating surfaces of these overlapping joints:
- inner skin to inner skin joints (see section E-E).
- inner skin to door structure joints (see section D-D.
(e) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the screws (6) and the washers (7).
(f) Install the replacement inner skins with the screws (6) and the washers (7).
(g) For fire protection purposes apply a bead of the Silicone Sealant-Firewall High Temp. - (Material No.06BHG1) to these junctions:
- inner skin to inner junctions (see section E-E).
- inner skin to door structure junctions (see section D-D).
H. Replacement of the Strut Bracket of the Access Door
(1) If the bracket is damaged, replace it as follows:
(a) Replace the pip-pin (32).
(b) Remove the nut (19), the bolt (21) and the door strut (22).
(c) Remove the screws (16), (17), the washers (15), (18) and the brackets (14), (20).
(d) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the screws (16), (17), to the washers (15), (18) and to the bolt (21).
(e) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) to the mating surfaces of the door strut bracket (20) and the bracket (14).
(f) Install the replacement door strut bracket (20) and the bracket (14) with the screws (16), (17) and the washers (15), (18).
(g) Install the door strut (22) with the bolt (21) and the nut (19).
(h) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the screws (16), (17) to the washers (15), (18), to the bolt (21) and to the nut (19).
(i) Lock the pip-pin (32).
Subtask 52-41-21-560-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If the bracket is damaged, replace it as follows:
(a) Replace the pip-pin (32).
(b) Remove the nut (19), the bolt (21) and the door strut (22).
(c) Remove the screws (16), (17), the washers (15), (18) and the brackets (14), (20).
(d) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the screws (16), (17), to the washers (15), (18) and to the bolt (21).
(e) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) to the mating surfaces of the door strut bracket (20) and the bracket (14).
(f) Install the replacement door strut bracket (20) and the bracket (14) with the screws (16), (17) and the washers (15), (18).
(g) Install the door strut (22) with the bolt (21) and the nut (19).
(h) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the screws (16), (17) to the washers (15), (18), to the bolt (21) and to the nut (19).
(i) Lock the pip-pin (32).
I. Preparation of a Replacement Component
(1) If you replace the APU access door, do the subsequent:
(a) Release the pip-pin (32).
(b) Remove the nut (19) , the bolt (21) and the access door strut (22).
(c) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the bolt (21).
(d) Install the access door strut (22) with the bolt (21) and the nut (19) on the replacement APU access door (1).
(e) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the bolt (21) and the nut (19).
(f) Lock the pip-pin (32).
Subtask 52-41-21-960-053-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If you replace the APU access door, do the subsequent:
(a) Release the pip-pin (32).
(b) Remove the nut (19) , the bolt (21) and the access door strut (22).
(c) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the bolt (21).
(d) Install the access door strut (22) with the bolt (21) and the nut (19) on the replacement APU access door (1).
(e) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the bolt (21) and the nut (19).
(f) Lock the pip-pin (32).
J. Replacement of the Skin
(1) If the skin is damaged:
(a) Remove the screws (6) and the washers (7).
(b) Remove the damaged inner skins.
(c) Apply a coat of the Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) approx. 5.0 mm (0.1969 in.) wide to the mating surfaces of these overlapping joints:
(e) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the screws (6) and the washers (7).
(f) Install the replacement inner skins with the screws (6) and the washers (7).
(g) For fire protection purposes apply a bead of the Silicone Sealant-Firewall High Temp. - (Material No.06BHG1) to these junctions:

(a) Remove the screws (6) and the washers (7).
(b) Remove the damaged inner skins.
(c) Apply a coat of the Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) approx. 5.0 mm (0.1969 in.) wide to the mating surfaces of these overlapping joints:
- inner skin to inner skin joints (see section E-E).
- inner skin to door structure joints (see section D-D.
(e) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the screws (6) and the washers (7).
(f) Install the replacement inner skins with the screws (6) and the washers (7).
(g) For fire protection purposes apply a bead of the Silicone Sealant-Firewall High Temp. - (Material No.06BHG1) to these junctions:
- inner skin to inner junctions (see section E-E).
- inner skin to door structure junctions (see section D-D).
K. Installation of the APU Access Door
(1) Put the APU access door (1) into the opening and install the pip-pins (10).
(2) Connect the bonding strap (11) with the screws (12) and the washers (13) to the APU access door (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
Subtask 52-41-21-820-051-A (1) Put the APU access door (1) into the opening and install the pip-pins (10).
(2) Connect the bonding strap (11) with the screws (12) and the washers (13) to the APU access door (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
L. Adjustment Procedure
(1) Close the APU access doors 316AR and 315AL (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
(2) Make sure that the locking hooks of the quick-release fasteners are correctly engaged in the clevises (34).
(3) Measure the force necessary to move the lever (32) of the latch (33) at the access door 315AL with the DYNAMOMETER 20 DAN (45 LBF) - PULL.
(a) Open the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(b) Loosen the nuts (35) and turn the clevises (34) in or out until the force is correct.

(d) Adjust the clevises (34) in the sequence front-rear-center.
5. Close-up(1) Close the APU access doors 316AR and 315AL (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
(2) Make sure that the locking hooks of the quick-release fasteners are correctly engaged in the clevises (34).
(3) Measure the force necessary to move the lever (32) of the latch (33) at the access door 315AL with the DYNAMOMETER 20 DAN (45 LBF) - PULL.
NOTE: The force must be between 8.0 daN (17.9847 lbf) and 18.0 daN (40.4656 lbf) and is measured 90 mm (3.5433 in.) from the rear end of the latch (33).
(4) If the force is out of tolerance, adjust the clevises (34) of the access door 315AL as follows: (a) Open the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(b) Loosen the nuts (35) and turn the clevises (34) in or out until the force is correct.
NOTE: When you adjust the force, try at the upper tolerance limit.
(c) TORQUE the nuts (35) to between 1.79 and 1.38 m.daN (13.20 and 10.18 lbf.ft )
. (d) Adjust the clevises (34) in the sequence front-rear-center.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the APU access doors 315AL 316AR and (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
