Installation of the Limit Switches
CAUTION:
IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU OPEN THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR, RECORD ON THE WORK CARD ON THE DOOR, THE DATE AND TIME WHEN YOU OPENED IT. IF THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR STAYS OPEN FOR 12 HOURS OR MORE, YOU MUST BLEED THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM RELATED TO IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, THE DOOR CAN CLOSE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SET THE DOOR TO "CLOSE". THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR AND TO THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the FWD or AFT cargo-compartment door is opened (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001) and safetied with the actuator safety locks.
(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable limit switch.
(3) Make sure that the ball strips and ball mats are removed around the applicable limit switch (Ref. AMM TASK 25-52-22-000-001).
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the FWD or AFT cargo-compartment door is opened (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001) and safetied with the actuator safety locks.
(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable limit switch.
(3) Make sure that the ball strips and ball mats are removed around the applicable limit switch (Ref. AMM TASK 25-52-22-000-001).
Subtask 52-35-13-210-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Visual Inspection
(1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Make sure that the contacts of the receptacle (1) are in good condition.
(5) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
Subtask 52-35-13-560-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Make sure that the contacts of the receptacle (1) are in good condition.
(5) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
B. Preparation of the Limit Switch
(1) Make sure that the roller (16) of the replaced limit switch (6) is in line with the groove.
(2) If not, put the roller (16) in the correct position as follows:
(a) Remove the nut (17) and the bolt (14) from the fork end (15).
(b) Disengage the roller (16) from the fork end (15).
(c) Push the fork end (15) carefully into the switch housing with a suitable tool until you feel resistance and hold.
(d) Turn the fork end (15) to 90 degrees and release it.
(e) Put the roller (16) in the fork end (15) and install the bolt (14) and the nut (17).
(f) Tighten the nut (17) correctly.
(3) Set the adjustment nut (7) in the correct position on the limit switch (6) as follows:
(a) Measure the distance between the end of the roller (16) and the contact surface of the adjustment nut (7).
Subtask 52-35-13-420-050-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the roller (16) of the replaced limit switch (6) is in line with the groove.
(2) If not, put the roller (16) in the correct position as follows:
(a) Remove the nut (17) and the bolt (14) from the fork end (15).
(b) Disengage the roller (16) from the fork end (15).
(c) Push the fork end (15) carefully into the switch housing with a suitable tool until you feel resistance and hold.
(d) Turn the fork end (15) to 90 degrees and release it.
(e) Put the roller (16) in the fork end (15) and install the bolt (14) and the nut (17).
(f) Tighten the nut (17) correctly.
(3) Set the adjustment nut (7) in the correct position on the limit switch (6) as follows:
(a) Measure the distance between the end of the roller (16) and the contact surface of the adjustment nut (7).
NOTE: The necessary distance is 22.0 mm (0.8661 in.)
(b) Turn the adjustment nut (7) clockwise or counterclockwise until the distance is correct. C. Installation of the Limit Switch 2508MJ or 2509MJ
(1) Put the limit switch (6) together with the related adjustment nut (7), the lock washer (8), the cable harness (5) and the conduit (20) in its installation position.
(2) Put the lock washer (8) in the correct position so that its outer tab engages with the attachment hole of the support assy (9).
(3) Install the limit switch (6) on the support assy (9) so that the adjustment nut (7) touches the lock washer (8).
(4) Install the serrated washer (12) and the lock nut (13) on the limit switch (6) to attach it on the support assy (9).
14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - on the adjustment nut (7).
(6) Put the conduit (20) in position and attach the clamp (19) with the bolt (18), the washer (4) and the nut (3) on the entrance guide.
(7) Attach the clamp (21) with the screw (22), the washer (23) and the spacers (24) and (25) on the structure bracket (26).
(8) Remove the blanking caps from the receptacle (1) and the electrical connector (2) and connect these two parts.
Subtask 52-35-13-865-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put the limit switch (6) together with the related adjustment nut (7), the lock washer (8), the cable harness (5) and the conduit (20) in its installation position.
(2) Put the lock washer (8) in the correct position so that its outer tab engages with the attachment hole of the support assy (9).
(3) Install the limit switch (6) on the support assy (9) so that the adjustment nut (7) touches the lock washer (8).
(4) Install the serrated washer (12) and the lock nut (13) on the limit switch (6) to attach it on the support assy (9).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(5) Tighten the lock nut (13) and safety it with (6) Put the conduit (20) in position and attach the clamp (19) with the bolt (18), the washer (4) and the nut (3) on the entrance guide.
(7) Attach the clamp (21) with the screw (22), the washer (23) and the spacers (24) and (25) on the structure bracket (26).
(8) Remove the blanking caps from the receptacle (1) and the electrical connector (2) and connect these two parts.
D. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

E. Adjustment of the Limit Switch 2508MJ or 2509MJ
(1) Remove electrical connector (2) from the receptacle (1) and connect the probes of the continuity tester to the related pins of the connector (2).
(2) Find the correct switch point of the limit switch (6) as follows:
(a) Set the manual lever of the door sill latches in the forward direction until the continuity tester shows an open circuit.
(b) Measure the distance between the end position of the drawbar lever (10) and its position when the limit switch (6) operates.
(3) Remove the probes of the continuity tester from the related pins and install the electrical connector (2) on the receptacle (1).
Subtask 52-35-13-710-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove electrical connector (2) from the receptacle (1) and connect the probes of the continuity tester to the related pins of the connector (2).
(2) Find the correct switch point of the limit switch (6) as follows:
(a) Set the manual lever of the door sill latches in the forward direction until the continuity tester shows an open circuit.
(b) Measure the distance between the end position of the drawbar lever (10) and its position when the limit switch (6) operates.
NOTE: The distance must be between 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.) and 5.0 mm (0.1969 in.).
(c) If necessary, adjust the length of the drawbar (11) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-52-00-820-001) so that the switch point of the limit switch (6) is in the tolerance. (3) Remove the probes of the continuity tester from the related pins and install the electrical connector (2) on the receptacle (1).
F. Do the operational test of the door control system (Ref. AMM TASK 52-35-00-710-001) to make sure that the limit switch 2508MJ or 2509MJ operates satisfactorily.
5. Close-upSubtask 52-35-13-410-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
(1) Install the ball strips and the ball mats (Ref. AMM TASK 25-52-22-400-001).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Make sure that the FWD or AFT cargo-compartment door(s) is (are) correctly closed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(1) Install the ball strips and the ball mats (Ref. AMM TASK 25-52-22-400-001).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Make sure that the FWD or AFT cargo-compartment door(s) is (are) correctly closed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
