Installation of the Ball Mats and the Ball Strips

Ball Mats and Ball StripsSubtask 25-52-22-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the forward and/or aft cargo-compartment door is opened (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at the opening of the applicable cargo compartment door.
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position at the applicable control panel of the cargo loading system.
Subtask 25-52-22-865-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the forward and/or aft cargo-compartment door is opened (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at the opening of the applicable cargo compartment door.
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position at the applicable control panel of the cargo loading system.
B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

A. Preparation for Installation
(2) Remove the remaining contamination with a VACUUM CLEANER.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the thread and the shaft of the screws (4) and the captive screws (2).
Subtask 25-52-22-420-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: If a captive screw is loose, tighten the collar with the H8603-10 CRIMPING DEVICE - BALL MATS (3).
(1) Remove the sealant from the ball mats, ball strips and the structure with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a SCRAPER - WOODEN or SCRAPER - PLASTIC. (2) Remove the remaining contamination with a VACUUM CLEANER.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the thread and the shaft of the screws (4) and the captive screws (2).
B. Installation of the Ball Mats and the Ball Strips
(1) Install the ball mats:
(a) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the mating surface of the ball mat (1).
(b) Put the ball mat (1) in its installation position.
(c) Tighten the captive screws (2).
(d) Install the screws (4) through the ball mat (1).
(e) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) to the fasteners and all other connection elements.
(f) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the material applied to the fasteners and the connection elements (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-002).
(2) Install the ball strips:
(a) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the mating surface of the ball strip (5).
(b) Put the ball strip (5) in its installation position.
(c) Install the screws (4) through the ball strip (5).
(d) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) to the fasteners and all other connection elements.
(e) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the material applied to the fasteners and the connection elements (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-002).
Subtask 25-52-22-910-051-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the ball mats:
(a) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the mating surface of the ball mat (1).
(b) Put the ball mat (1) in its installation position.
(c) Tighten the captive screws (2).
(d) Install the screws (4) through the ball mat (1).
(e) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) to the fasteners and all other connection elements.
(f) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the material applied to the fasteners and the connection elements (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-002).
(2) Install the ball strips:
(a) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the mating surface of the ball strip (5).
(b) Put the ball strip (5) in its installation position.
(c) Install the screws (4) through the ball strip (5).
(d) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) to the fasteners and all other connection elements.
(e) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the material applied to the fasteners and the connection elements (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-002).
C. Preparation for Installation
(1) If captive screws (1) are loose, tighten the collar with the H8603-10 CRIMPING DEVICE - BALL MATS (2).
(2) Remove the sealant from the ball mats, ball strips and the structure with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a SCRAPER - WOODEN or SCRAPER - PLASTIC.
(3) Remove the remaining contamination with a VACUUM CLEANER.
(4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(5) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the threads and the shaft of the screws (4) and the captive screws (1).
(6) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
Subtask 25-52-22-420-053-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If captive screws (1) are loose, tighten the collar with the H8603-10 CRIMPING DEVICE - BALL MATS (2).
(2) Remove the sealant from the ball mats, ball strips and the structure with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a SCRAPER - WOODEN or SCRAPER - PLASTIC.
(3) Remove the remaining contamination with a VACUUM CLEANER.
(4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(5) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the threads and the shaft of the screws (4) and the captive screws (1).
(6) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
D. Installation of the Ball Mats and the Ball Strips
(1) Install the ball mats:
(a) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the mating surface of the ball mats (3).
(b) Put the ball mats (3) in their correct installation positions.
(c) Tighten the captive screws (1).
(d) Install the screws (4) in the ball mats (3).
(2) Install the ball strips:
(a) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the mating surface of the ball strips (5).
(b) Put the ball strips (5) in their correct installation positions.
(c) Install the screws (4) and the nuts (6) in the ball strips (5).
(3) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) to the captive screws (1), the screws (4) and the nuts (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-002).
5. Close-up(1) Install the ball mats:
(a) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the mating surface of the ball mats (3).
(b) Put the ball mats (3) in their correct installation positions.
(c) Tighten the captive screws (1).
(d) Install the screws (4) in the ball mats (3).
(2) Install the ball strips:
(a) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the mating surface of the ball strips (5).
(b) Put the ball strips (5) in their correct installation positions.
(c) Install the screws (4) and the nuts (6) in the ball strips (5).
(3) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) to the captive screws (1), the screws (4) and the nuts (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-002).

A. Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

C. Close Access
(1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Close the forward and/or aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
