Removal of the TPIS Kit

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-49-51-941-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
  • In the cockpit, on the right center instrument panel 400VU, to tell persons not to operate the landing-gear control lever.
  • On the steering handwheel (CAPT and F/O) and on the rudder pedals, to tell persons not to operate them.
   (2) Install the safety devices on the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-49-51-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Tire Pressure Indicating System (TPIS) Kit
   (1) Remove the cover (8).
     (a) Remove and discard the two nuts (4).
     (b) Remove the two bolts (6) and the two washers (7) from the support assembly (5).
     (c) For single-linkage version only:
       1 Remove and discard the nut (10).
       2 Remove the washer (9).
       3 Remove the bolt (2) and lockwasher (3).
       4 Discard the lockwasher (3).
       5 Remove the cover (8).
     (d) For dual-linkage version only:
       1 Remove and discard the nut (10).
       2 Remove the washer (9).
       3 Remove the bolt (2) and the lockwasher (3).
       4 Discard the lockwasher (3).
       5 Remove the cover (8) and the two spacers (12).
   (2) Remove the TPIS intermediate electrical-harness (14).
     (a) Disconnect the intermediate electrical harness (14) from the 1M top harness (13).
     (b) Install CAP - BLANKING on the electrical connectors.
     (c) Remove the intermediate electrical harness (14) from the support assembly (15) or (20) as follows:
       1 For the support assembly (15):
. Remove the bolt (17), clamp (18) and washer (16).
. Remove the clamp (18) from the intermediate electrical harness (14).
       2 For the support assembly (20):
. Remove the nut (21).
. Remove the washer (19).
. Remove the bolt (17), clamp (18) and washer (16).
. Remove the clamp (18) from the intermediate electrical harness (14).
     (d) Remove the intermediate electrical harness (14) from the support assembly (5) as follows:
       1 Remove the two bolts (37) and the two washers (36) and remove the intermediate electrical harness (14) from the support assembly (5).
     (e) Remove the intermediate electrical harness (14) from the support assembly (29) as follows:
       1 Remove the two bolts (27) and the two washers (28) and remove the intermediate electrical harness (14) from the support assembly (29).
     (f) Remove the intermediate electrical harness (14) from the protector (38) in the upper torque link.
     (g) Remove the intermediate electrical harness (14) from the top of the torque link as follows:
       1 Remove and discard the nut (46).
       2 Remove the washer (45).
       3 Remove the bolt (43), clamp (44) and support (42).
       4 Remove the clamp (44) from the intermediate electrical harness (14).
     (h) Disconnect the intermediate electrical harness (14) from the bottom electrical harness (22).
     (i) Install CAP - BLANKING on the electrical connectors.
     (j) Remove the clamp (48) from the support (52) or (62) as follows:
       1 For the support (52):
. Remove and discard the nut (50).
. Remove the washer (49) and clamp (48).
. Remove the clamp (48) from the intermediate electrical harness (14).
       2 For the support (62):
. Remove and discard the nut (50).
. Remove the washer (49), screw (63) and clamp (48).
. Remove the clamp (48) from the intermediate electrical harness (14).
   (3) Remove the support (29)
     (a) Remove the lubrication fitting (23) and the locating washer (24).
     (b) Remove the nut (25) and washer (26) from the left screw (31).
     (c) Remove the support (29).
     (d) Make sure that the washer (30) is in position on the left screw (31).
NOTE: The screw (31) has an Allen head and a slot at the threaded end.
When you install the shock absorber, you must hold the screw from the slot end. When you remove the shock absorber, you must hold the screw from the head end.
     (e) Install the washer (26) and the nut (25) on the left screw (31).
     (f) Install the locating washer (24) and the lubrication fittings (23).
   (4) Removal of the support (5)
     (a) Remove the nut (35) and washer (34) from the forward screw (32).
NOTE: The screw (32) has an Allen head and a slot at the threaded end.
When you install the shock absorber, you must hold the screw from the slot end. When you remove the shock absorber, you must hold the screw from the head end.
     (b) Remove the support assembly (5).
     (c) Make sure that the washer (33) is in position on the forward screw (32).
     (d) Install the washer (34) and nut (35).
   (5) Remove the protector (38) from the upper torque link.
     (a) Remove and discard the nut (41).
     (b) Remove the washer (39).
     (c) Remove the bolt (40) and the second washer (39).
     (d) Remove the protector (38).
   (6) Remove the bottom electrical harness (22).
     (a) Remove the four screws (51) from the bottom connector of the electrical harness (22).
     (b) Remove the clamp (53) from the support (52) or (62) as follows:
       1 Remove and discard the nut (56).
       2 Remove the washer (55).
       3 Remove the bolt (54) and clamp (53).
       4 Remove the clamp (53) from the bottom electrical harness (22).
     (c) Remove the bottom electrical harness (22) from the connector (80) at the wheel axle ends.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
       1 Cut and remove the lockwire. Remove the screws (77) and the washers (78).
       2 Remove the cover (76).
       3 Remove the support (79) from each end of the wheel axle as follows:
. Remove and discard the two cotter pins (73).
. Remove the two nuts (72).
. Remove the two washers (71).
. Remove and discard the two bolts (74).
. Remove the support (79).
       4 Remove the four bolts (81), connector (80) and counter plate (75) on each side of the wheel axle.
       5 Disconnect the bottom electrical harness (22) from the connector (80) on each side of the wheel axle.
       6 Install CAP - BLANKING on the electrical connectors.
     (d) Remove the bulkhead union (68) or (70).
       1 Remove the sealant around the sliding rod of the bulkhead union (68) or (70).
       2 Remove the cotter pin (67) and nut (66).
       3 Discard the cotter pin (67).
       4 Remove the washer (65).
       5 Remove the bolt (69) and the second washer (65).
       6 Remove the bulkhead union (68) or (70).
     (e) Carefully remove the bottom electrical harness (22) from the hole in the sliding rod.
   (7) Remove the support (52) or (62) from the lower torque link.
     (a) Remove the support (52).
       1 Remove and discard the nut (59).
       2 Remove the washer (58).
       3 Remove the bolt (57).
       4 Remove and discard the nut (60).
       5 Remove the washer (61).
       6 Remove the support (52) and screw (47).
     (b) Remove the support (62).
       1 Remove and discard the nut (59).
       2 Remove the washer (58).
       3 Remove the bolt (57).
       4 Remove the support (62).
