3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the CHOCK - WHEEL(S) are in position.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (3) Make sure the safety devices are installed on the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (4) In the cockpit, on panel 400VU:
     (a) Make sure that the landing-gear control lever is in the DOWN position.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing-gear control lever.

B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-48-51-420-062-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Impeller Assy
F Impeller Assy ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Apply a thin layer of Grease-Thread Anti-seize Graphited and Petrolatum - (Material No.03LBB1) on the drive shaft of the impeller (3).
   (2) Make sure that the grub screw is installed on the impeller (3) and that it is in the correct condition.
     (a) If the grub screw is not correctly installed, do the steps that follow:
       1 Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- Medium strength Medium viscosity System (Material No.05BAG3) on the threads of the grub screw.
       2 Put the grub screw in position on the impeller (3).
       3 Tighten the grub screw until it touches the base of the shaft groove.
       4 Loosen the grub screw a quarter turn.
   (3) Put the impeller (3) in position and engage the grub screw of the impeller on the groove of the drive shaft.
   (4) Install the washer (4) and the nut (5).
   (5) Lock the impeller (3) with the MG174-04 DISASSEMBLY TOOL and TORQUE the nut (5) to between 34 and 31 m.N (25.07 and 22.86 lbf.ft ) T.
WARNING: USE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (6) Safety the nut (5) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (7) Make sure that the impeller (3) turns freely.

B. Installation of the Guard Assy
F Impeller Assy ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Clean the splines with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
   (2) Apply a thin layer of Grease-Thread Anti-seize Graphited and Petrolatum - (Material No.03LBB1) on the splines (1) and on the splines of the guard assy.
   (3) Lubricate the fasteners with Grease-Thread Anti-seize Graphited and Petrolatum - (Material No.03LBB1) .
   (4) Install the guard assembly (6) on the shroud (9) and joint.
NOTE: The debris guard has holes of different diameters :
  • Large diameter (two): to put the locating pins in the correct position. Same holes on the shroud assembly (centering function)
  • Small diameter (four): to put the four attachment screws in the correct position.
     (a) Use the locating pins (2) to put the guard assembly (6) in the correct position. Make sure that you correctly engage the splines (1) in the guard assembly (6).
   (5) Install the screws (8) and the new AIPC 32-48-51-04-035 TAB WASHERS (7).
   (6) TORQUE the screws (8) to between 1.9 and 1.6 m.daN (14.01 and 11.80 lbf.ft )

     (a) Make sure that the heads of the screws (8) are correctly aligned with the tab washers (7).
F Brake Fan - Main Gear Wheel ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (7) Safety the screws (8) with the tab washers (7).

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

D. Operational Test
   (1) Do the functional test of the brake fans (Ref. AMM TASK 32-48-00-720-001).

A. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the safety devices from the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-081-001).
   (4) Remove the SAFETY BARRIERS.
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
