(1) In the cockpit, on the panel 400VU put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).

C. Get access to the NLG free-fall extension mechanical system
(1) Open the nose landing-gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position in zone 123.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position below the lateral avionics-compartment door 822.
(4) Open the lateral avionics-compartment door 822.

Free-Fall Control-Handle Assembly - Location

(1) Put the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL (26) in position on the lower bellcrank (27).
(2) Put the 98A27801001000 RIGGING PIN (20) in position on the cable quadrant (21).

E. Get access to the control handle

Free-Fall Control-Handle Assembly

(1) In the cockpit, turn by a quarter turn the fasteners (2) of the panels (1) and (3).
(2) Remove the panels (1) and (3) from their housings.
(3) Remove the printer (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-35-22-000-001).
(4) Remove the screws (7), the nuts (4), the washers (11) and the bushes (10).
(5) Loosen the screws (9) and move the casing (8) at an angle.

4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Control Handle
(1) Remove the screws (6) and (12).
(2) Lift the panel (13), disconnect the plugs (14) and remove the panel (13).
(3) Remove the handle assembly (15) from its housing.
