LUBRICATION - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-21-18-860-050-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) In the cockpit, on the panel 400VU, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.
   (2) Make sure that the doors of the nose landing gear are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-21-18-110-050-B
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the attachment hardware and the pins (18) and (22) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , and dry them with filtered compressed air.
   (2) Apply a light layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of all the nuts, screws, bolts and pins.
   (3) Lubricate the hardware and the pins (18) and (22) with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) .
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
Subtask 32-21-18-420-053-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the NLG Lock Springs
   (1) Install the M21929 TENSIONING FIXTURE (25) on the springs (4) and (11) on each end-fitting.
   (2) Make sure that the brackets (7) and (8) are in position.
   (3) Remove the washers (6) and (9).
   (4) Put the lock springs (4) and (11) in position with the coils at the bottom part and install the washers (3), (5), (10) and (12), the nuts (2) and (13).
   (5) Measure the clearance on each side and use the new AIPC 32-21-17-02-040 WASHER (6) and the AIPC 32-21-17-02-040 WASHER (9) to get a clearance between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
NOTE: You must use between one and three adjustment washers (6) and (9) on each side.
   (6) Remove the nuts (2) and (13), the washers (3) and (12), the lock springs (4) and (11), the washers (5) and (10).
   (7) Install the washers (6), (9), (5) and (10), the lock springs (4) and (11) and the washers (3) and (12).
   (8) Install the nuts (2) and (13) and TORQUE them to between 0.95 and 0.8 m.daN (84.07 and 70.80 lbf.in )
T.
   (9) Install the new
AIPC 32-21-17-02-010 COTTER PIN (1).
   (10) Install the new
AIPC 32-21-17-02-010 COTTER PIN (14).
NOTE: You must adjust the length of the lock springs with the tool as necessary to install them.
   (11) Install the lock springs (4) and (11).
   (12) Install the washers (19) and (17).
   (13) Install the nuts (20) and (16) and TORQUE them to between 0.95 and 0.8 m.daN (84.07 and 70.80 lbf.in )

   (14) Install the new
AIPC 32-21-11-42-010 COTTER PIN (15) or AIPC 32-21-11-62-010 COTTER PIN (15) or AIPC 32-21-11-82-010 COTTER PIN (15).
   (15) Install the new
AIPC 32-21-11-42-010 COTTER PIN (21) or AIPC 32-21-11-62-010 COTTER PIN (21) or AIPC 32-21-11-82-010 COTTER PIN (21).
   (16) Remove the
M21929 TENSIONING FIXTURE (25) from the lock springs (4) and (11).
   (17) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) on the zones E.
Subtask 32-21-18-420-053-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the NLG Lock Springs
   (1) Install the M21929 TENSIONING FIXTURE on the springs (4) and (11).
   (2) Make sure that the brackets (7) and (8) are in position.
   (3) Remove the washers (6) and (9).
   (4) Put the lock springs (4) and (11) in position with the coils at the bottom part and install the washers (3), (5), (10) and (12), the nuts (2) and (13).
   (5) Measure the clearance on each side and use the new AIPC 32-21-17-02-040 WASHER (6) and the AIPC 32-21-17-02-040 WASHER (9) to get a clearance between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
NOTE: You must use between one and three adjustment washers (6) and (9) on each side.
   (6) Remove the nuts (2) and (13), the washers (3) and (12), the lock springs (4) and (11), the washers (5) and (10).
   (7) Install the washers (6), (9), (5) and (10), the springs (4) and (11) and the washers (3) and (12).
   (8) Install the nuts (2) and (13) and TORQUE them to between 0.95 and 0.8 m.daN (84.07 and 70.80 lbf.in )
T.
   (9) Install the new
AIPC 32-21-17-02-010 COTTER PIN (1).
   (10) Install the new
AIPC 32-21-17-02-010 COTTER PIN (14).
   (11) Install the springs (4) and (11).
   (12) Install the washers (19) and (17).
   (13) Install the nuts (20) and (16) and TORQUE them to between 0.95 and 0.8 m.daN (84.07 and 70.80 lbf.in )
T.
   (14) Install the new
AIPC 32-21-11-42-010 COTTER PIN (15) or AIPC 32-21-11-22-010 COTTER PIN (15).
   (15) Install the new
AIPC 32-21-11-42-010 COTTER PIN (21) or AIPC 32-21-11-22-010 COTTER PIN (21).
   (16) Remove the
M21929 TENSIONING FIXTURE from the springs (4) and (11).
   (17) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) on the zones E.
5. Close-up
Subtask 32-21-18-410-051-A
A. Get Access
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Close the doors of the nose landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
