Replacement of the NLG Shock Absorber Dynamic Seals
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
1. Reason for the JobThis procedure tells you how to replace the dynamic seals on the NLG shock absorber when there is leakage at the upper cam (between the sliding rod and the cylinder).
NOTE: To replace the dynamic seals, it is necessary to open the shock absorber. Because of the risk of contamination, you must do this task in a very clean environment. Thus, the manufacturer recommends that you do this procedure in a shop.
If it is not possible to do the procedure in a shop, use all the necessary precautions to prevent pollution.
If it is not possible to do the procedure in a shop, use all the necessary precautions to prevent pollution.
NOTE: If a leakage from the NLG shock absorber occurred, one return flight is permitted for repair to be completed, if:
2. Job Set-up Information- The leak rate from the turning tube drain-hole is less than 10 drops/min, weight on wheels
- The NLG shock-absorber oil-replenishment and nitrogen-filling (aircraft on wheels) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-32-611-001) is done, less than one hour before a flight.
