Detailed Inspection of MLG, Shock Absorber Sliding Tube for Cracks
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
1. Reason for the JobNOTE: This inspection must be done with the aircraft at the lowest possible weight. Do not do the inspection with the aircraft loaded for flight.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On the panel 400VU:

(3) On the panel 400VU:
- make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear controls.
B. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the external surface of the MLG sliding tube.
4. Procedure(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the external surface of the MLG sliding tube.

A. Detailed Inspection of MLG, Shock Absorber Sliding Tube for Cracks
(1) Use a LIGHT SOURCE - WHITE and MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X to examine the surface of each MLG sliding tube. Carefully examine the area between the MLG gland housing and the brake flanges for cracks or surface damage (Ref. ISB 32A1273).
5. Close-up(1) Use a LIGHT SOURCE - WHITE and MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X to examine the surface of each MLG sliding tube. Carefully examine the area between the MLG gland housing and the brake flanges for cracks or surface damage (Ref. ISB 32A1273).
NOTE: If you find signs of cracks, the MLG sliding tube must be replaced (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-13-000-004) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-13-400-004).

A. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
