A.Broken Wire Braids.
Maximum of 3 broken wires per braid.
No more than 6 broken wires in an assembly.
No more than 6 broken wires in each 1 ft. (0.30 m) of hose.
If the damage is more than the allowable limits, replace the hose (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-040).

2.Examine the fittings on the two ends of the hose, look for:

A.Thread damage.
Damage is permitted if the threads that are good are not reduced by more than one thread.
If the damage is more than the allowable limits, replace the hose (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-040).
B.Damaged flats.
Damage is permitted if the end fittings can keep the correct torque value.
If the end fittings can not keep the correct torque replace the hose (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-040).
C.Safety wire hole damaged or worn.
Damage is permitted if the metal around the hole is not cracked or torn.
One undrilled corner must remain.
Blend out damage. If necessary drill a hole in the undrilled corner. The new hole must be the same diameter and distance from the end of the nut as the old hole.
3.Examine the muscle pressure line tube assemblies, look for:

A.Cracks, splits or kinks.
None permitted.
Replace the tube (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-040).
B.Wrinkles in bends.
Maximum depth cannot be more than 3 percent of the tube diameter or 0.060 in. (1.52 mm) which ever is smaller.
If wrinkles are more than the allowable limits, replace the tube (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-040).
C.Dents.
Maximum depth cannot be more than 10 percent of the tube outside diameter.
Maximum radius must be less than 2 times the wall thickness.
Maximum of 2 dents for each 1 ft. (0.30 m) of tube length.
If the dents are more than the allowable limits, replace the tube (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-040).
D.Flat areas.
Maximum flat area cannot be more than 2 times the tube outside diameter.
The contour change cannot be more than 10 percent of the tube outside diameter.
If the flat areas are more than the allowable limits, replace the tube (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-040).
E.Nicks, scratches, chafing.
Maximum depth cannot be more than 10 percent of the wall thickness.
If the damage is more than the allowable limits, replace the tube (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-040).
4.Examine the anti-ice system forward duct airgap insulation, look for:

A.Nick, scratch, gouge.
1 in. (25.4 mm) maximum length.
Permanent repair at 7500 flight hours/5000 flight cycles/24 calendar months (whichever the earliest) recommended.
