3. Job Set-up

A. Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

C. Remove the thermal anti-ice outlet panel

   (1) Remove the 23 bolts (29) from the outlet panel (28).
   (2) Remove the outlet panel (28) from the outer duct (31) and the nose cowl.
4. Procedure
Subtask 30-21-49-110-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Clean Components
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (1) Clean the inner and outer thermal anti-ice ducts and their related components
F Anti-Ice Ducts ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with V01-076Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Technical grade, to clean these components:
       1 The inner duct (32).
       2 The outer duct (31).
       3 The outer duct insulation (27).
     (b) Dry the components with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .

B. Visually Examine the Inner and Outer Thermal Anti-Ice Ducts
F Anti-Ice Ducts ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MIRROR - INSPECTION, to examine the inner and outer thermal anti-ice ducts and their related components to make sure that the parts are satisfactorily attached.
     (a) The outer duct insulation (27).
     (b) The seal (30).
     (c) The outer duct (31).
     (d) The inner duct (32).
   (2) If the outer duct insulation (27) or the seal (30) have become loose, reject the part. If the outer duct (31) or the inner duct (32) have become loose, do (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-200-013).
   (3) Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to examine the inner and outer thermal anti-ice ducts for leaks.
     (a) If the color at the edges of the ducts has changed from that of the remaining duct, reject the part.
     (b) If there are other signs of leaks, reject the part.
   (4) Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to examine the general condition of the inner and outer thermal anti-ice ducts.
     (a) Examine the inner duct and the internal surface of the outer duct for cracks. If the duct is cracked, reject it.
     (b) Examine the inner duct and the internal surface of the outer duct for dents.
       1 Dents with smooth contours, not less than 1.0 in. (25.4 mm) apart and not more than 0.05 in. (1.3 mm) deep: accept the part.
       2 Dents other than in step above: reject the part.
     (c) Examine the ducts for nicks, scores and fretting.
       1 Damage with smooth contours, up to 0.003 in. (0.08 mm) in deep on a straight part of a duct: accept the part.
       2 Damage other than in step above on a straight part of a duct: reject the part.
       3 Damage on a bend: reject the part.
   (5) Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to examine the general condition of the outer duct seal.
     (a) Examine the seal for damage. If the seal is damaged, reject it.
5. Close-up

A. Install the Outlet Panel
F Anti-Ice Ducts ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE OUTER DUCT SEAL (30) IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED TO THE OUTER DUCT (31).
   (1) Install the outlet panel (28) on the outer duct (31) and the air intake cowl.
   (2) Install the 23 bolts (29).
   (3) TORQUE the bolts (29) to between 28.6 and 23.4 lbf.in (0.32 and 0.26 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

B. De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
