Installation of the Hydraulic Suction Tubes

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-13-49-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002)
   (2) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 198CB.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir.
   (5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the engine 1(2).
   (6) Make sure that the fan-cowl doors 447AL/448AR are open.
Subtask 29-13-49-941-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
  • make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
   (4) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (6) Make sure that a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is below the suction-hose adapter connection to the hydraulic pump.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-49-110-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Remove the applicable covers/caps/plugs from the openings.
   (2) Clean the replacement parts and their interfaces
     (a) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) and clean the replacement parts and their interfaces.
     (b) Use a clean, dry Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and remove the dirty cleaning fluid from the parts while they are wet.
   (3) Make sure that the replacement parts and their interfaces have no damage.
   (4) Lightly lubricate the threads and abutment faces of the hydraulic system tube/hose nuts, unions and couplings with the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) used in the aircraft hydraulic system.

B. Preparation of the Replacement Parts
   (1) Install the quick-release coupling to the hose

     (a) Attach the quick-release coupling (1) to the end connector of the hose (12).
     (b) Hold the quick-release coupling (1) with an applicable wrench.
     (c) TORQUE the connector nut of the hose (12) to between 1080 and 900 lbf.in (12.20 and 10.17 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).

C. Install the hydraulic suction tubes

   (1) Make sure that these parts are installed in the position they were removed from (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-49-000-010):
     (a) The clamps (17), (37) and (39).
     (b) The bolts (16), (36) and (40).
     (c) The hoses (12) and (9) and the tube (10).
   (2) Install the tube (10).
     (a) Put the tube on the engine, in the correct position for installation.
     (b) Attach the connector nut of the tube (10) to the union (33). Tighten the connector nut with your hand.
     (c) Hold the union (33) with an applicable wrench.
     (d) TORQUE the bulkhead union nut of the union (33) to between 1200 and 960 lbf.in (13.56 and 10.85 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
     (e) Loosely assemble the two halves of the clamp (39) and the three bolts (40) to the raft (38).
     (f) Remove the safety ties from the clamp (39) and the raft (38).
     (g) Loosely assemble the two halves of the clamp (37) and the three bolts (36) to the raft (34).
     (h) Remove the safety ties from the clamp (37) and the raft (34).
     (i) Hold the union (33) with an applicable wrench.
     (j) TORQUE the connector nut of the tube (10) to between 1680 and 1520 lbf.in (18.98 and 17.18 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
     (k) TORQUE the bolts (36) and (40) to between 110 and 90 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.02 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (3) Install the lower hose (9)
     (a) Connect the hose to the tube (10) and the union (56).
     (b) Hold the end of the tube (10) with an applicable wrench.
     (c) TORQUE the connector nut of the hose (9) to between 1680 and 1520 lbf.in (18.98 and 17.18 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
     (d) Hold the union (56) with an applicable wrench.
     (e) TORQUE the connector nut of the hose (9) to between 900 and 800 lbf.in (10.17 and 9.04 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (4) Install the upper hose (12)
     (a) Put the hose in the clamp (17) in the correct position for installation.
     (b) Connect the hose (12) to the union (33).
     (c) Hold the union (33) with an applicable wrench.
     (d) TORQUE the connector nut of the hose (12) to between 1680 and 1520 lbf.in (18.98 and 17.18 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
     (e) Connect the quick-release coupling (1) at the aircraft pylon interface.
     (f) Install the bolt (16) to the clamp (17).
     (g) TORQUE the bolt (16) to between 110 and 90 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.02 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (5) Remove the container.
Subtask 29-13-49-710-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Operational Test
   (1) Pressurize the hydraulic system of the engine 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-002).
   (2) Do an operational test of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-00-710-002).
   (3) During the dry motoring, make sure that there are no leaks on the hydraulic system of the engine 2 .
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-13-49-410-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (4) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
close the door 447AL 448AR.
   (5) Close the door 195BB.
