Removal of the Inline Damper of the Yellow Engine Pump


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING: DO NOT GET HYDRAULIC FLUID ON YOUR SKIN, IN YOUR EYES OR IN YOUR MOUTH. HYDRAULIC FLUID IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY. FLUSH HYDRAULIC FLUID FROM YOUR EYES, MOUTH OR SKIN WITH WATER. GET MEDICAL AID IF YOU GET HYDRAULIC FLUID IN YOUR EYES OR MOUTH.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate this pushbutton switch.
   (2) Open access door 198CB.
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system on the ground service panel.
   (3) On HYD section of panel 40VU:
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (4) Open access door 195BB:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (5) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
  • Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
  • Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
  • Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (6) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
  • Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Inline Damper of the Yellow Engine Pump
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND ADJACENT COMPONENTS.
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
   (1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the hydraulic pressure hose connection.
   (2) Hold the damper (1) with a WRENCH - STANDARD and disconnect the hydraulic pressure hose (2).
   (3) Drain the hydraulic fluid from the hydraulic pressure hose (2) into the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL).
   (4) Remove the damper (1) from the hydraulic pump (3).
   (5) Remove and discard the retainers (4).
   (6) Remove and discard the packings (5) and (6).
   (7) Install COVER - PROTECTION on the hydraulic pressure hose (2), damper (1) and hydraulic pump (3).
